MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Indian Premier League continues on Wednesday and we have another cracking game in store on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the DY Patil in Mumbai, with the RCB suffering a slightly embarrassing defeat here in their first game they will be hoping to turn things around. As discussed in my preview of that game, the RCB bowling has to be a massive worry this season and when you are failing to defend 205/2 then you have major issues. Not only that, but Punjab chased it down with an over to spare!

KKR won their opening game, the opening game of the tournament, on Saturday against CSK and that was a very different game to RCB’s first game. They kept KKR down to 131/5 and then chased it down pretty easily. This ground looks like it’s going to be pretty high scoring so they will have to make that adjustment quickly. The KKR bowling attack looks much better than the RCB attack, and I feel that is where the game will be won. Obviously we’ll have very good batting conditions here which isn’t going to help the RCB bowling attack, and you have to think just how many runs will the RCB batters need. Faf du Plessis scored 88 off 57 balls at the top of the order with Virat Kohli scoring 41 off 29 too – they won’t fire every day and we know that RCB have to carry a lot of their team with their main stars. I can just see RCB struggling a lot this season.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said at the weekend, we don’t have much ground history here so we are learning as we go. This isn’t a normal IPL with India still suffering with the Covid19 pandemic so we’ll be mostly focused in Mumbai this season. There’s no natural home side for this ground, but we’ll know conditions well here within a few games. Batting conditions looked very good at the weekend with RCB scoring 205/2 and Punjab chasing it down in 19 overs. It was raining sixes too, so I’d expect to see more high scores here. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps KKR can keep the RCB score down a little with their bowling, but we should have another high scoring game. It seems anything under 200 in the first innings won’t be enough which is a daunting task!

RECOMMENDED BET:

I know that RCB are one of the glamorous sides in the IPL and of course they have some big names. For that reason they are always likely to be over bet in my opinion, but even allowing for that I was shocked to see KKR trading as big as 2.2 when I clicked into the market here. They have stars in their side too, and some excellent Indian talent. I can see the likes of Andre Russell scoring really well with the bat here against the RCB bowling, and possibly Sunil Narine too if they open with him but Rahane scored a nice 44 off 34 in their opening game. Iyer can go very well in the middle order too. I think the market is totally wrong here and I’d have KKR favourites – I feel there’s so much value on offer I’m happy to have a rare five point max bet.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

This game might be a little tricky to trade in-play if you’re like me and you make KKR fantastic value. The market always tends to love the RCB and they will be heavily supported. It’s likely you’ll have to fight the market which isn’t a fantastic thing to do when trading – it will be all about picking good spots to take on the RCB. Given the first game here was so batter friendly and we saw some very high scoring, it makes a lot of sense to look for trades on the batting side here. Possibly an ideal game for us might be RCB bat first again to post 200ish and KKR chase it down. I can see the KKR doing very well against the RCB bowling, so I wouldn’t mind them batting first either to be honest but I’d probably take the liability off the table at half time given it’s so batter friendly.
