ASTON VILLA V LIVERPOOL

8pm Monday Night Football kicks off a big week of Premier League action on BETDAQ Betting Exchange We’re into the final week now, and we have some games to catch up on before the final day on Sunday. Hopefully we have the same amount of drama that we had in the Champions League and Europa League last week, and we begin the week with Aston Villa host Liverpool. With Manchester City winning against Fulham at the weekend, that was confirmation that Liverpool’s title challenge was over – however, we all know it was over weeks ago when they lost to Crystal Palace.

It’s been a very disappointing end to the season for Liverpool; their season blew up in a matter of days with the 3-0 loss to Atalanta in the Europa League Semi-Final at Anfield too. Since then we’ve had Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp arguing on the touchline, and maybe that has put a little sour note on Klopp leaving. He did a wonderful job with Liverpool but it will probably go down as what could have been – Pep Guardiola and Manchester City stopped a lot of success for this Liverpool squad. It was a shame their title was won in Covid times too.

For Aston Villa, a loss last weekend away to Brighton and a draw here against Chelsea has left the door open for Spurs in the race for fourth. They crashed out of the Europa Conference League on Thursday night; always up against it given their first leg loss here. After Spurs won on Saturday they closed the gap to four points with both sides having two games left. Spurs have to play Manchester City on Tuesday night which obviously gives Aston Villa a massive advantage but the door hasn’t been closed yet. Spurs have picked up a few results against City over the last few years.

Liverpool come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.78 with Aston Villa 4.2 and the draw is 4.8 at the time of writing. On paper, Liverpool are a much better side compared to Aston Villa but I have to say the 1.78 feels a little short given the situation. Liverpool have nothing to play for while Villa still need a result in the Top Four race. Villa have been very solid here all season too; their average xG created at home is 1.55 and their conceded figure is only 1.18. You have to say however that they were much better at the start of the season, and they have definitely loss that air of confidence as the season has gone on. It feels like Spurs have thrown away fourth rather than Villa have beat them with brilliance.

With all that being said, I still feel that the 1.78 is a little short on Liverpool, and I expect a closer game than those odds suggest. I couldn’t put anyone off the Liverpool lay from a value point of view – the market is expecting plenty of action with Over 2.5 goals trading as short as 1.38 and we should have a very entertaining game!

The Striker Says:
Two points lay (liability) Liverpool to beat Aston Villa at 1.78 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
