LEICESTER V FULHAM

5.30pm We have two cracking fixtures for Monday Night Football this week and we start with Leicester hosting Fulham. After a disappointing week for Leicester, this is a nice fixture for them to get back to winning ways. Fulham have been poor this season, and have gone back to losing since getting their first win against a poor West Brom side. The positive for Fulham fans is they are starting to create more chances – their last two xG’s have been 1.90 and 1.89. They were unlucky to lose against Everton after missing a penalty, and while the sides are that they are slightly moving in the right direction; they still have a long way to go.

Leicester have been impressive this season, but were rightly put in their place last weekend against Liverpool. The same happened last season, when Leicester where viewed before Christmas as the challengers to Liverpool with City off the pace. Leicester just aren’t in the same bracket as Liverpool so I’m happy to overlook that loss and focus on how good they were beforehand. For me this should be a straightforward home win and I’m happy to back Leicester at 1.56 – Fulham have been very poor this season.

MATCH STATS

  • Leicester won their last Premier League meeting with Fulham (3-1 in March 2019), their first victory in six attempts against them in the competition (D3 L2).
  • Fulham have kept a clean sheet in 67% of their Premier League meetings with Leicester (4/6) – only against Derby do they have a better such record in the competition (75% – 3/4). However, they conceded in both meetings with Leicester the last time they met in 2018-19 (D1 L1).
  • Leicester have won both of their Monday Premier League games so far in 2020 by an aggregate score of 8-1 – the Foxes have never won three consecutive Premier League games played on a Monday before.
  • Fulham have won four of their last six Premier League games played on Mondays (L2), with their only victory so far this season coming in such a match (2-0 vs West Brom).
  • None of Leicester’s last 13 Premier League games have ended level (W7 L6), the longest current run without a draw in the competition.
  • Leicester have lost three of their last five Premier League home games (W2), as many as they had in their previous 20 at King Power Stadium (W12 D5).
  • Coming into the weekend’s games, no side has conceded more Premier League goals than Fulham this season (18), with 33% of these goals conceded coming in the opening 15 minutes of games (6) – also a league-high.
  • Jamie Vardy was involved in all three of Leicester’s goals the last time they faced Fulham in the Premier League, scoring two and assisting one in the Foxes 3-1 win in March 2019.
  • Fulham’s Bobby Reid has scored two goals in his last three league games, as many as he had in his previous 21 for the Cottagers. His three goals in eight Premier League games this season is just two fewer than he scored in 27 appearances in his previous campaign in the competition (5 in 2018-19).
  • Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has won all seven of his Premier League meetings against Fulham – only Pep Guardiola (8 vs Bournemouth and 8 vs Watford) has a better 100% winning record against an opponent in the competition’s history.

WEST HAM V ASTON VILLA

8pm We end the evening with West Ham hosting Aston Villa and we have a pretty open market on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. West Ham are currently trading 2.4 and that looks good value to me. They have impressed me a lot this season, but Villa must be respected here as they have been pretty good this season. They have lost a few of their recent fixtures but you only have to look at their xG numbers to see that they are playing good football. In their last four games they have recorded xG figures of 2.17, 1.94, 2.52 and 1.45. They have lost three of those four games though!

West Ham have been rock solid this season, and we landed a nice bet with them to beat Fulham recently and then they followed that up with a nice win against Sheffield United too. They have been recording impressive xG figures for most of the season and when you create that many chances – you win a lot of games. As I said, I respect Villa so I will adjust my stakes a little lower but I do like West Ham here at the odds. 2.4 looks ten ticks too big to me.

Two points win West Ham to beat Aston Villa at 2.4 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

  • Aston Villa have won their last two Premier League games in London, as many as they had in their previous 21 in the capital (D3 L16). They haven’t won three consecutive top-flight games in London since February 1990.

  • Aston Villa have won all three of their away Premier League games this season – they’ve never won each of their first four on the road in a league campaign before.
