NEWCASTLE V TOTTENHAM

1.30pm Some Super Sundays are better than others! It’s one straight out of the Premier League top drawer on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week! All eyes will no doubt be on Manchester United v Liverpool as the highlight fixture of the weekend, but we have a cracker before we get there as Newcastle host Spurs. Both clubs start the weekend sitting beside each other in fifth and sixth after a win and a draw from their two games. They’ll both be unhappy with that too considering Spurs dropped points against Leicester and Newcastle to Bournemouth. It was interesting to see Eddie Howe give an interview prior to this weekend telling fans that “the dream isn’t over, it will just take longer’ in reference to them getting to the Champions League. They definitely peaked too soon in that regard – when the Saudi money came in the natural thing to happen was for them to compete for the Europa spots for a few years – they were in the relegation battle during the takeover after all – but they jumped straight into the Champions League! They are getting hit with the profitability and sustainability rules now, and they need to increase their revenues.

Having to sell players must be a nightmare for Newcastle fans. Especially when you see Chelsea buying half of Europe. We should have a very interesting game here, and although they were held to a draw against Leicester, Spurs have been playing some very nice football. It’s exceptionally early days of course, but they have nice xG figures already. We have a very open betting heat – Newcastle are the favourites with home advantage at 2.58 with Tottenham 2.68 and the draw is 4.1 at the time of writing. Newcastle are struggling at the moment in my opinion – they obviously have a few issues off the field but they have had two relatively easy fixtures and haven’t created much. After everyone had played two games, they were in the bottom four on xG attacking figures. I know with Spurs a mistake at the back is never far away, but I do feel we have the wrong favourites here. I’d have Spurs marginal favourites in an open market rather than Newcastle, and from a value point of view I’m happy with the Newcastle lay at 2.58.

MANCHESTER UNITED V LIVERPOOL

4pm What other fixture could take the prime time TV slot on Sunday apart from Manchester United hosting Liverpool! England’s biggest and most successful rivals do battle again, although the gap between them has grown in recent years. It wasn’t so long Manchester United were always the favourites for this fixture – now it’s Liverpool’s turn and they have dished out some massive beatings to United recently. Things have changed once again with Jurgen Klopp leaving, but the early signs from Arne Slot are very good. It will be very interesting to see what type of tactics he employs here; Klopp usually attacked United and it paid off handsomely. Liverpool come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.91 with Manchester United 4.0 and the draw is 4.3 at the time of writing. There’s usually a massive over-reaction to this fixture from both sets of fans; you have to feel though that Erik ten Hag needs a result here. He’s already come out and said not to compare the defensive set-up to last season and that he now has a “proper back four” – those comments could haunt him if Liverpool run riot – as they have done recently in this fixture!

We’ve had Liverpool dish out 7-0, 5-0 and 4-0 beatings in recent years. United have done reasonably OK recently; we had the dramatic FA Cup 4-3 win and then they have managed two draws since the 7-0 loss. The market is expecting goals with Over 2.5 goals trading 1.47 and Both Teams To Score is trading four ticks higher at 1.51. Liverpool have answered every question asked of them under Slot so far, but obviously this is their biggest test. United conceded plenty of chances away to Brighton last weekend; the late goal took the headlines but once again they were all over the place at times away from home. They will likely defend better here, but this Liverpool side seem perfectly set-up to play counter-attacking football. I actually like two bets here – the Over 2.5 goals at 1.47 and the Liverpool win at 1.91. I couldn’t put anyone off either bet, but the Liverpool option looks the best value in my opinion. There’s a big gulf in class between the sides these days, and Liverpool are worth a confident bet.

Three points win Liverpool to beat Manchester United at 1.91 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
