BUNDESLIGA / LA LIGA: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Friday’s games between SCHALKE v MAINZ and VALENCIA v VILLARREAL with recommended BETDAQ bets.

SCHALKE V MAINZ

7.30pm It’s been a very busy week with Serie A and the Copa Del Rey semi-finals and we have our usual Friday night football from the Bundesliga and La Liga! We start in the Bundesliga with a bottom of the table clash as Schalke host Mainz. This is yet another massive game for Mainz after they played Augsburg last weekend. Unfortunately for them they lost 1-0 in a pretty even affair, however that has really put them on the backfoot in the battle to stay up. All hope isn’t lost though, as they are only one point behind Arminia Bielefeld and Hertha Berlin so it’s still on to play for. I was very disappointed with that last weekend as I thought they could get the win. While Schalke are nailed to the bottom and have no hope of staying up.

Schalke shipped another five goals last weekend when losing 5-1 to Stuttgart and that was after conceding four against Dortmund. As I said above, Mainz let me down last weekend and they are trading around the same price to win tonight. I think this is a game for small stakes given it’s going to be a very low quality affair and I’m happy to back Mainz again at 2.14. Their xG figures have been decent recently, that’s why I fancied them last weekend, and they are playing the worst team in the Bundesliga. Schalke give away chances for fun and they don’t create much either. I can only see Mainz winning here, but I’m happy to keep stakes low.

VALENCIA V VILLARREAL

8pm We move to La Liga to finish the evening as Valencia host Villarreal at the Mestalla. We all know at this stage what a poor season Valencia are having, however they have been good enough that they will stay up and perhaps that is the main thing after their summer clear out. Villarreal also changed a bit during the summer but Unai Emery is having trouble getting his team to win rather than draw. They have had 13 draws in 25 games, and while they are still in the mix for a Europa League spot – they aren’t a team you want to lumping on with all those draws. This should be an interesting game and I’m sure there will be a lot of different opinions on BETDAQ Betting Exchange.

Villarreal would be a tempting lay against most other sides, however I’m not keen to take them on against Valencia. They lost 3-0 to Getafe last weekend createing an xG of just 0.26 and they have had a host of poor xG figures this season. I wouldn’t rave about Villarreal, but they can get the job done here. I feel the best bet by far is under 2.5 goals at 1.8 or bigger. Valencia struggle to create chances and it’s obvious Villarreal struggle to put away teams with that many draws – I feel Villarreal might get a 1-0 or 2-0 win here but unders looks the vall.
