FRIDAY IN EUROPE: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Friday’s games between MAINZ v GLADBACH and ATHLETIC BILBAO v CADIZ with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MAINZ V GLADBACH

7.30pm After a very busy and dramatic week in the Champions League and Europa League, we return to normality on Friday night with one game from the Bundesliga and one from La Liga on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. As always, we start in the Bundesliga at 7-30pm as Mainz host Gladbach. We have a tale of two very different sides here. Mainz will be absolutely delighted with their start to the season, and Gladbach will be very unhappy. Mainz are going to start this weekend sitting in 5th with a win putting them in the top four – that’s quite a move in the right direction from finishing 12th last season and also being in a relegation fight at various times throughout the season. Gladbach start the weekend down in 10th and their drop from finishing top four in 2019/20 has been quick and dramatic. They finished 8th last season, and they’ll probably be hanging around the same position come the end of this season.

Gladbach obviously still carry a lofty reputation, and they have produced some remarkable results this season from seemingly nowhere. They beat Bayern Munich 5-0 in the German Cup recently! They also drew 1-1 with Bayern to start the season and beat Dortmund 1-0. Both those results came at home however, and when you look at their xG figures it’s really eye-catching how many chances they give away. You can see why they have slipped down the table. Mainz have been pretty rock solid this season apart from losing 3-1 to Dortmund, they will definitely get chances against this Gladbach side but I do feel the draw is the standout value bet here at 3.7. The market has both sides the same price, which is understandable because it’s hard to see anything other than a very close game, however it’s the draw for me at the odds.

The Ultra Says:
One point win Draw at 3.7 with BETDAQ Exchange.

ATHLETIC BILBAO V CADIZ

8pm We move to La Liga to finish the action on Friday night as Athletic Bilbao host Cadiz. Athletic Bilbao go into this game as the hot favourites trading 1.44, and rightly so as they have been impressive this season. I was a big fan of Cadiz last season in La Liga, they were a breath of fresh air and I was happy to see them stay up – they always had issues creating a lot of chances though and now they have a tough season ahead battling to stay up. They grinded out a lot of results last season, but it almost feels now that teams have got used to them in La Liga and they have found a way around their tactics. They start the weekend in the bottom three, and recently the sides around them have been picking up points too – they desperately need a win soon, but it’s unlikely to come here. Bilbao managed a draw against league leaders Real Sociedad last weekend, and prior to that they were desperately unlucky not to beat Espanyol, finishing the game with an xG of 3.77 in a 1-1 draw.

It’s clear to see the problem for Cadiz this season. They have been giving away far too many chances. Ironically, and this probably sums up Barcelona’s season, the only side they have kept to an xG of under 1 was Barcelona! They have conceded an average xG of 1.8 per game this season – you just aren’t going to pick up that many points doing that. Compare this to Bilbao who have been creating an xG of 1.8 per game, and only conceding 1 – I feel this will be a one way traffic win for Bilbao and the 1.44 is worth taking on the home win here. The stats all point to an easy nights work for Bilbao.

The Ultra Says:
Four points win Athletic Bilbao to beat Cadiz at 1.44 with BETDAQ Exchange.
