BAYERN MUNICH V AUCKLAND CITY

5pm The FIFA Club World Cup kicks into full flow on Sunday! We have the biggest game of the tournament so far as PSG meet Atletico Madrid in B, but we kick off the day with Bayern Munich meeting Auckland City in Group B. There’s a huge gulf in class between the sides here, and it’s no surprise to see Bayern come into the game as the red-hot favourites on BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE. Bayern are trading as short as 1.02 at the time of writing with Auckland City 100.0 and the draw is 50.0! Obviously it’s been a difficult start to the tournament for FIFA – the Club World Cup has been around for a while, but this is the first version of this format with all the attempted glamour around it too. Ticket sales have been very poor and now we have an effective mismatch too. Fans have been very passive is actually caring about this, and as I said in my preview of the opening game – it’s hard to call yourself the best club in the world when the format doesn’t allow for the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona to be in the tournament. From a German point of view, not having Bayer Leverkusen in the tournament is obviously a talking point too.

It’s been very clear that Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have been the top two sides in Germany for two seasons now, but Dortmund have joined Bayern Munich. FIFA need to work on that for the future – but let’s see how this tournament goes first! It will be fascinating to see how many fans they get into the stadium here; America isn’t exactly a footballing nation! It’s expensive to travel to for European fans as well. Obviously with such a gulf in class between the sides, this one is going to be about how many goals Bayern can score rather than will they actually win. We’ll have to look around the sides markets for some value here – fair to say we won’t see a shorter price than 1.02 in the tournament! International football is criticised for these prices. The market is expecting Bayern to do all the goal scoring with Both Teams Not To Score trading 1.31. Bayern can run riot here in my opinion, and I’m happy with a small bet to cover the 4.5 goal handicap at 1.87. Small stakes are a must at the early stages of the tournament.

The Ultra Says:
One point win Bayern Munich -4.5 goals to beat Auckland City at 1.87 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

PSG V ATLETICO MADRID

8pm Next we have the highlight of the tournament so far as PSG meet Atletico Madrid. Once again, an interesting situation here – does this game will the stadium with PSG having just won the Champions League? Obviously a lot of debate why Atletico Madrid are here instead of Barcelona (a Cup win), but a fascinating game none-the-less. PSG come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.93 with Atletico Madrid 4.3 and the draw is 3.95 at the time of writing. After winning the Champions League, and surely enjoying the party afterwards, it’ll be interesting to see what type of performance we get from PSG here. The general feeling towards this tournament has been apathy to be honest, and surely it’s hard to get up for this after reaching the highest summit. We’ve saw that in world golf too with Rory McIlroy after the Masters which has been well documented. That being said, Atletico Madrid didn’t exactly play elite football this season – they only had the sixth best attacking figure in La Liga. In classic Diego Simeone fashion they had to grind out a lot of results, including when these sides met earlier in the season.

They met in Paris in the Champions League, and PSG absolutely dominated the game but ended up losing thanks to a 93rd minute winner from Atletico. That was a complete smash and grab. PSG finished the game with an xG of 2.63 and Atletico scored two goals from an xG of just 0.74 – PSG had 71% possession too! Football is of course about putting the ball in the net however; classic example there! Atletico certainly struggled to create good quality chances this season – I actually feel this tournament might be a little more open than usual with some sides not having that same intensity as say the Champions League. That might open Atletico up at the back, which given they grind out results will work against them. As I said above, stakes low at the start of the tournament is a must, but I’m happy to take the 1.93 on PSG here – obviously motivation levels are a worry but they look a level or two above Atletico based on everything we’ve seen this season.

The Ultra Says:
One point win PSG to beat Atletico Madrid at 1.93 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
