THURSDAY LA LIGA: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews REAL VALLADOLID v VILLARREAL and GRANADA v REAL MADRID both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

REAL VALLADOLID V VILLARREAL

6pm It’s been a huge week in La Liga and the big games continue on Thursday night. This is a massive game for both sides for different reasons, Real Valladolid are in a very tight relegation battle and Villarreal are on the back foot now chasing a Europa League spot after losing 4-2 to Celta Vigo at the weekend. Elche have already lost this week, but that was another massive game at the bottom of the table against Alaves who are now four points ahead of Valladolid. Eibar are also in action tonight so who knows where Real Valladolid could end up tonight. It’s fair to say that they can’t afford to lose, but they face a very tough Villarreal side. Even though Villarreal lost 4-2 last weekend, they didn’t deserve to. They actually played very well, and finished the game with a higher xG, but of course it is a worry to concede so many goals.

Villarreal also have the Europa League Final to look forward to at the end of the month, but given the situation in La Liga they can’t afford to ease up. Although I said Valladolid can’t afford to lose above, this is probably a must win game for Villarreal. They can’t lose points against a side like Real Valladolid and expect to finish ahead of Real Sociedad and Real Betis. Although Valladolid have picked up some draws lately, their xG figures highlight how limited they are. I would definitely have Villarreal odds on here, and at 2.04 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange they are a confident selection. The 2.04 is just too big given the gulf in class between the sides.

GRANADA V REAL MADRID

9pm Another massive game in La Liga, but this time at the top of the table as Granada host Real Madrid. Granada were the side who done Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid a massive favour when beating Barcelona in Barcelona’s game in hand, and after Barcelona could only draw on Tuesday night they now find themselves massively on the backfoot. Atletico stayed top of the table, but Real Madrid are now the main challengers after that Barcelona draw and Real Madrid just have to keep winning until the end of the season. To be honest, they should win here because Granada are your average mid-table La Liga side, but I have to say that the 1.42 on Real Madrid looks very short.

I can see why a lot of punters want to back Real Madrid – they have to win, they have more to play for than Granada, they have much more quality in their side and Granada concede a lot of chances – but nevertheless I wouldn’t have Real as short as 1.42. They haven’t exactly been on fire recently and have only managed one win in their last five games in all competitions. We landed a confident lay on Real Madrid when they played Sevilla the weekend, and although the lay bet is tempting again tonight, I prefer Both Teams To Score at 1.8. Granada have been playing very open games lately, and they have nothing to achieve here by putting XI men behind the ball, while Real make the odds mistake at the back. I feel we’ll see goals here, and BTTS looks over priced in my view.
