Our greyhound expert TREVOR DUNNE aka TREVDAQ heads to Yarmouth for tonight’s Ladbrokes Trainers’ Championship (LIVE on SKY). He has his eyes on laying a runner in the 7.49.
Over to Yarmouth for the Ladbrokes Trainers’ Championship which comprises of eight races – two sprints, four over four bends including pups, dogs and bitches and two over six bends. Points are accrued as follows: 10 for a win, 7 for second, 5 for third and then 3,2,1.
The sponsors, Ladbrokes, have reported money for Charlie Lister to the win the championship for a sixth time.
I fancy taking on TRAP 4 > Jaytee Hellcat in the 7.49. He’s won 3/11 with successes at Newcastle 480, Wimbledon 480 and Hove 515. Tonight, he drops back in trip which I see as a disadvantage. He finished 2nd in the Juvenile at Wimbledon last week beaten 7 1/2 lengths behind Ballymac Eske, in a race that fell apart as dogs got cramped and supposedly fast away dogs didn’t lead.
He recorded 28.25 in a pre trainers trial session on the 7th March with sectionals of 5.43. He’s beatable!
TRAP 1 > Daddy Knowsbest – Maybe one of Chris Allsopp’s lesser lights clocking 28.38 with a 5.38 sectional. Has been jumping hurdles and now reverts to flat.
TRAP 2 > Benkaat Blue – all about early speed with a 28.15 over CD, he is a contender here if he breaks.
TRAP 3 > Droopys Reason – he could be the daddy here if he can overcome a layoff. 1 from 3 at Yarmouth with a 27.76 in the 1st round of the Yarmouth Derby with a sectional of 5.40, he also did a 27.96 in prep for this event so his well-being is there for all to see with creditable trials. This appears to be one of Seamus Cahill’s better dogs.
TRAP 5 > Kowloon Conner – 14 from 30 of which 13 were at Sheffield. He is 1 from 6 away from Sheffield but if he were to translate that form he would have a chance but has to step up on his 28.59 trial time (almost certain to improve for first look).
TRAP 6 > Hathar George – Charlie Lister’s dog has won 15 from 37 and is closely matched with Trap 5 on Sheffield form. He has middle all over his card and will be edging middle, he has had two looks in Yarmouth a 27.97 and a 27.87.
