UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE: We preview Saturday’s Nations League games between NETHERLANDS v GERMANY and REPUBLIC OF IRELAND v DENMARK with recommended BETDAQ bets.

NETHERLANDS v GERMANY

7.45pm Germany started their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 0-0 draw against France, and after a woeful World Cup they will be hoping to notch up their first competitive win here. It’s perhaps strange to see the Netherlands in Group A1 considering how poor they have been in qualifying for big tournaments in recent years; maybe the different scenario here will be to their benefit! The truth is that the Netherlands have just played poor football in recent years, and Germany will be confident of winning here.

Germany are clear favourites however not quite odds on with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Netherlands 3.4, Germany 2.24 and the draw is 3.75. Obviously Germany have an excellent record in getting through the Group stages for major tournaments and we expect that to continue. They may have had a poor World Cup but the Netherlands weren’t even good enough to get there and we expect the Germans to get back to winning ways here – we feel that they should be closer to 2.0 and 2.24.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Germany to beat Netherlands at 2.24.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND v DENMARK

7.45pm Irish fans will have horrible memories of this fixture – remember they took an early lead at home in the second leg of the World Cup Playoff only for Denmark to hammer them 5-1 in the end. Fast forward a couple of months and now we have wall-to-wall stories about fighting in the camp and they seem to have forgotten how to play football too! They have been a poor side quality wise for a number of years if truth be told; however if all the fighting rumours are true – they will have lost their togetherness and work ethic that sometimes got them past being only an average side.

We have a pretty open market, with the match odds at the time of writing currently; Republic Of Ireland 3.15, Denmark 2.72 and the draw is 3.1. Ireland come here off an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Wales in their opening fixture and if they lose here they will be very close to being relegated to the third tier. It’s hard to see past a Denmark win here after the 5-1 win here the last time they visited and Ireland look to have gone backwards since. Denmark should definitely be shorter than their current odds of 2.72 and we’re happy to back them – it looks one of the best value bets of the weekend.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Denmark to beat Republic Of Ireland at 2.72.
