WORLD CUP: We preview Thursday’s four World Cup games between JAPAN V POLAND, SENEGAL V COLOMBIA, ENGLAND V BELGIUM and PANAMA V TUNISIA each with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

JAPAN V POLAND

3pm We finish the Group stages on Thursday and we start with a very open market. Poland have been very poor in their two games and are already out of the tournament, while Japan were “lucky” to beat Colombia who were a man down early. Nonetheless Japan top the Group and a draw will be good enough to see them into the next round.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Japan 2.64, Poland 3.1 and the draw is 3.3. Poland were always a weak top seed, however Japan hasn’t exactly proved that they are a strong side and it will be very interesting to see how this one plays out. All the pressure is on Japan, while Poland can attack with nothing to play for. They also welcome back an important player in Kamil Glik (should he start) and we feel Japan are a good value lay here. We can see this one being closer than odds of 2.64 suggest and we’re happy to have Poland and draw on our side.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Japan at 2.64.

SENEGAL V COLOMBIA

3pm It’s all to play for between these two teams as Senegal sit second with four points and Colombia third with three points. The winner will obviously go through and this will be the game everyone watches this afternoon. It’s hard to read too much into Colombia’s first game against Japan as they lost a man early, however they were impressive when putting Poland away 3-0. Senegal have scored twice in both their games, drawing 2-2 with Japan and beating Poland 2-1. This will be a good game to watch!

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Senegal 4.7, Colombia 1.91 and the draw is 3.7. It’s pretty easy to see how this game will play out tactically, with Colombia attacking and Senegal happy to sit back and counter attack. Both sides play their best that way; however having seen the way Colombia played against Poland we can see them getting the upper hand here. It’s tempting to back them at 1.91; however over 2.5 goals is trading 2.12 and that looks huge. Overs has won in all four games both sides have been involved in this World Cup and we can see plenty of goals again.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Over 2.5 goals at 2.12.

ENGLAND V BELGIUM

7pm Who wants to win! That is the tricky question here because undoubtedly the loser will have an easier draw. It’s difficult to imagine either side “throwing” the game; however it’s fair to say that we can expect some changes to the first XI from both managers. Both sides are obviously through, and with the loser having an easier draw it’s hard to see this one being too competitive.

We have a wide open market, with the match odds at the time of writing currently trade; England 2.8, Belgium 2.98 and the draw is 3.2. It’s hard to see why England should be favourites against a side of Belgiums quality – this is definitely an overreaction to the Panama game. It’s tempting to lay those odds but obviously it’s hard with the Group situation. We can see this being a very dull affair and a quiet game; under 2.5 goals is 1.79 and that looks good value.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Under 2.5 goals at 1.79.

PANAMA V TUNISIA

7pm It’s fair to say that not many will be tuning into this one at the same time as England v Belgium! Both these sides are already out of tournament however that doesn’t mean we can’t find value bets. Tunisia have definitely look the stronger side of the two in the Group games; they nearly held England to a draw in their opening game.

Tunisia are odds on favourites, with the match odds at the time of writing; Panama 4.7, Tunisia 1.89 and the draw is 3.8. Based on what we’ve seen in this World Cup; Tunisia look too big at 1.89 – Panama have looked very poor at the back and have conceded nine goals in two games. Tunisia have conceded seven, however they have scored three and gave England a good game. We’re happy to back Tunisia at the odds here; they look to have too much class for this Panama side.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Tunisia to beat Panama at 1.89.
