EFL CUP SEMI-FINAL: We preview the EFL Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday between LIVERPOOL v SOUTHAMPTON with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

8pm This should be a cracking game with Southampton winning the first leg 1-0, and is by far the most interesting semi-final with Manchester United beating Hull 2-0 in the first leg of the other semi-final.

Southampton went through a mini rough patch recently while conceding plenty of goals, however since beating Liverpool in the first leg they have seemed to stem the tide somewhat, they did lose 1-0 to Burnley the weekend after however a 3-0 win against Leicester on Sunday gave them a much needed clean sheet and a confidence boost.
It’s hard to see Southampton coming into this game and being anything other than defensive. Liverpool have struggled to break teams down at stages this season, however we feel that if Southampton create an open game here Liverpool will cut through them and ultimately go through – so they must set up to be quite tight and pack midfield.
The match odds at the time of writing currently stand at; Liverpool 1.51, Southampton 8.2 and the draw 4.5. Liverpool feel a little short at 1.51, especially when you considering that it’s been three hours since Southampton conceded a goal in games against Liverpool.
We feel that the value here is in the goals markets with unders being our bet. Southampton have to take a somewhat negative approach here and going by their tactics this season, it appears they wills et up to just defend here. Also when you factor in that Liverpool scoring first doesn’t change much from a Southampton point of view, under 2.5 goals definitely looks big at 2.14. And 0-0 is also worthy of consideration at 16.0 in the correct score market.
