12.40 Fairyhouse (Royal Bond Novice Hurdle) Willie Mullinsâ 2012 favourite in this, Champagne Fever, failed to give 3lb to Jezki but turned the tables at level weights in the Supreme Novicesâ Hurdle at Cheltenham. Quality or what!

A trio of Mullinsâ contenders today â his recent results in this heat are 1112 – seems headed by Alonso, the choice of Ruby Walsh. Alonso, currently a 33-1 shot for the Supreme Novices in March, and Renneti are once raced, as was Mullinsâ 2011 winner, Sous Les Cieux.
Arctic Fire came down at Gowran after clipping heels and slipping up at the second last. Like Alonso and Renneti, he won first time in Ireland, switched to Mullins from racing in the French provinces.
Jessica Harringtonâs pair cannot be ignored: Mr Fifty One ran up to Diakali at Naas, and Diakali is one of Jezkiâs opponents in the Hattonâs Grace Hurdle later on today.
But shortest of her pair is Gambling Girl, and likely to be shorter with the Pricewise pimple on it. She gets between 7lb and 10lb from all in todayâs field but itâs not normally a filliesâ race – she needs to be as good as Like-A-Butterfly 12 years ago â and good ground today means there is no special premium on weight.
I find it hard to see anything stopping Alonso until the rains come, since he is said to need this better ground and, as a winner over 2m 4f, may be too strong for these.
Minella Foru, who beat Very Wood, looks a danger, with Tony McCoy in the saddle, as a Point winner over 3m, whoâs won back-to-back hurdles at the minimum trip.
A nervous Stuart Crawford declared he would be âin no hurryâ with Gift Shadow after his winning reappearance, but heâs been tempted to pit this Beneficial five-year-old against the four-year-olds here, with the stats revealing that the score is currently 5-5 between the two age groups.
DAQMANâS VERDICT: Alonso, Gift Shadow and Minella Foru are power horses with stamina, and they are going to make it count, giving Gambling Girl a hard task to show her speed, despite the concession, if she is to land Jessica Harrington her third win in eight years.
I will take Alonso (5.0 in a 102% BETDAQ orange) as the Mullinsâ best but Gift Shadow (7.2) was runner-up in the Punchestown champion bumper won by The Liquidator, who recently took the Cheltenham Supreme Novicesâ Hurdle Trial by 15 lengths.
1.10 Fairyhouse (Drinmore Novice Chase) Weâve had an RSA runner-up and a Lexus winner from this in recent years, with favourites and second favourites taking five out of six of these.
Clar Na Mionn and Carlingford Lough look well exposed, and Sizing Rio and Don Cossack are the market leaders, as I write. Total percentages on BETDAQ: 103.
Don Cossack jumped well on his chasing debut behind the impressive Morning Assembly at Punchestown, and Sizing Rio is on a hat-trick, but neither is bred in the jumping purple.
Carlingford Lough (5.7 this morning) is by the sire of Cue Card and a whole host of top jumpers and, at level weights, with McCoy up, will be hard to beat.
DAQMANâS VERDICT: McCoy made the difference when Carlingford Lough won the Galway Plate, and they were the âmoralâ when runners-up in the Kerry National, at five lengths, giving 17lb to the winner. A tough combination for the youngsters to beat here.
1.55 Carlisle Peter Bowen and Henry Daly rate this prize big enough for long treks North from Shropshire and Welsh Wales, though they share top weight in this 3m 2f marathon.
Harouet (Bowen) has been this way before but goes for a Carlisle hat-trick off 4lb higher than any wining market, so must improve again.
The front-running grey Saffran De Cotte (Daly) has had a long holiday since he tailed off, failing at his first attempt to make the leap from novice chases.
They have to give more than astone to Tutchev but will the Nicky Richardsâ front-runner settle well enough, raised in trip here?
DAQMANâS VERDICT: Big weight concessions and stamina doubts suggest that they might let in the stayer Herdsman, who put back to back wins together early in the year when last he was right.
Though the drying ground is against him, the stiff, undulating Carllisle track (the Cheltenham of the North) will help and I took 6.4 on BETDAQ this morning. A sporting nap for the four-timer.
2.15 Fairyhouse (Hattonâs Grace Hurdle) Solerina, Brave Inca and Hurricane Fly are winners in the decade that bear comparison with the great Hattonâs Grace, three times Champion Hurdle winner for the legendary Vincent OâBrien.
And todayâs field, though a small one, could yield a champion in either Jezki or Rule Of the World, and the four-year-old Diakali, though an unlikely winner this year, has a big future in the game.
Diakali is the first to try this at his age since 2002 and would be the first four-year-old winner. Zaidpour won the Royal Bond three years ago on the way to taking this prize but I expect him to be overwhelmed by the young bloods in conditions that donât suit him.
Jezki is the recent Royal Bond scorer, and he went on to double up in the Punchestown Champion Novice, when Rule The World broke down.
DAQMANâS VERDICT: Jezki has to prove himself at this 2m 4f. Rule Of The World has to reclaim the heights after serious injury. The ground is against Zaidpour and youth is against Diakali. Itâs not a betting race, is it! But, if you do bet, stay on BETDAQ, where there is 103% âbookâ.
2.50 Fairyhouse No winner of a double-figure age. Nothing for nine years that could carry more than 11st 1lb. These stats speak volumes for Ruby Walshâs taking the ride on the lightweight Prosperity Square, 10.0 on BETDAQ this morning.
DAQMANâS VERDICT: Prosperity Square, out of an Over The River mare, is ideally made for the step up to this marathon trip. Thereâs even a line through Another Palm which puts him close to the favourite, Sword Fish, whoâs never been able to hold his form before.
11.04 Hollywood Derby Is our Cambridgeshire fifth, Seek Again, good enough to win the Derby at Hollywood Park tonight?
Or is John Gosden merely sunning himself â itâs 72 degrees there â on his old California stamping ground, where Bates Motel launched his career in the Santa Anita Handicap in 1983? The answer to both questions may be a resounding âyes.â
