It’s the start of a great weekend of racing in Ireland with the highlight being Hurricane Fly and the Champion Hurdle on Sunday.
It’s a cracking card today at Leopardstown and despite a field of just four going to post for the Killiney Novice Chase (Grade 2) – finding the winner looks tricky.
Bright New Dawn was a little disappointing here when fifth last time out but it came in a Grade 1 and the step-back in distance here should suit and he looks a spot of value against the Willie Mullins trained Djakadam who is very much unproven at this level. It’s not a race however in which any of the quartet can be ruled out with confidence.
We’ll get the all-important NAP out of the way early.
I’ve settled on Ballychorus in the opener who ran a cracker at Navan on debut when third and has since performed well in a bumper when also third (and the runner-up from that race has won since).
She’s around 2/1 on BETDAQ at the time of writing which looks fair enough.
