JUST THE FOUR RUNNERS IN THE TIED COTTAGE STAKES: The big race at Punchestown on Sunday has attracted a field of just four.
There’s no Sizing Europe in this year’s Tied Cottage (he’s won the last two renewals when starting odds-on) but we will still have an odds-on shot in the form of Arvika Ligeonniere (around 1.42 on BETDAQ).
He gets the award for the trickiest horse name in training to spell, but that aside should make his class tell.
The Willie Mullins trained runner was a close-up third behind Benefficient in a Grade 1 Leopardstown chase over Christmas and had previously won three races on the spin.
His win in the John Durkan over the 2m 4f trip here became something of a formality after Flemenstar was a non runner and main market rival Sir Des Champs was an early faller.
If you are looking to take him on you might look to that the fact that he’s only the joint top-rated horse in the race alongside Rathlin who receives 2lb.
Despite falling last time out Chancol is hard to oppose in the opening maiden hurdle which looks a particularly weak affair.
Chancol had previously won a Navan bumper and shaped well on hurdling debut at Leopardstown when fourth to Western Boy – in a race where where the form has worked out well subsequently.
