TREASURE AT TRAMORE: Irish racing comes courtesy of Tramore on Monday and SHAMROCK’s nap on the card runs in the opening maiden hurdle at 4.35.
I got the lay right with Custom Cut yesterday but the NAP, Alive Alive Oh was disappointing when only fourth.
It proved another tough day for Aidan O’Brien with all four of his runners beaten, including Adjusted at 11/10 in the closing maiden.
After racing, O’Brien worked around 40 horses on the course and the main news was that Geoffrey Chaucer is likely to head to the French Guineas after an impressive piece of work.
“Geoffrey Chaucer is very much in the picture for the French Guineas. He’s showing a lot of speed for a Montjeu,” said O’Brien.
“I was thinking of running him at Navan on Saturday, but I was happier to come away here and he’ll either start off in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial or the French Guineas on the same day.”
I’m keen on Halling’s Treasure in the opener at Tramore today.
The Gordon Elliott trained runner, who runs in the Gigginstown House Stud colours, has run four good races over hurdles without success so far but this looks his easiest task to date and he can gain reward for his consistency.
The Willie Mullins trained grey Wood Breizh is the obvious danger.
