SHAMROCK LANDS SECOND NAP IN THREE DAYS: Martello Tower, as expected, outclassed his rivals to win the opener at Killarney yesterday and give SHAMROCK his second winning nap in three days. The SP of 4/6 was bettered on BETDAQ where he was around evens.
Killarney continues today with a mixed card but where have all the runners gone???
Very uncharacteristically there are small fields on today’s card. Two four runner races and just six in the finale. I’ve seen more runners recently at Wolverhampton and that is saying something !!
There’s been three withdrawals in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Median Auction Race at 6.55 but ironically it looks a MORE competitive betting heat as a result.
It’s hard to oppose a Dermot Weld trained runner given the form that the stable are in but I prefer Davids Park to the Weld trained runner Lanyard here.
Davids Park is rated 11lb superior and takes a massive drop in class. He looked very useful when winning at Chepstow first time up last season and has since run three times in Group and Listed level. A reproduction of his fourth to Go For Goal in the Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial Stakes (Listed) should easily prove good enough to land this.
The jumps action at Killarney looks tougher. I thought Liberty’s Gift was worth a speculative punt in the 5.50 – the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Beginners Chase. He likes to race from the front and showed his current well being with a good third in the Punchestown charity race. He made a solid start to his career over fences when third to Starkie at Cork.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Davids Park (6.55 Killarney)
NEXT BEST: Liberty’s Gift (5.50 Killarney)
