BETDAQ KEMPTON BONANZA: DAQMAN previews the four BETDAQ sponsored races at Kempton Park this evening. His NAP of the day runs in the Betdaq No Premium Charge Handicap at 7.50.
It continues to be musical chairs within the Godolphin operation with the news that trainer Charlie Appleby has announced that Mickaël Barzalona is no longer his automatic first choice jockey.
Appleby pointed out that there had been no falling out with Barzalona, who will continue to ride for the stable, however alongside other jockeys.
William Buick and Martin Lane have both ridden recently for the Appleby stable.
The other axis of the Godolphin operation, Saeed bin Suroor, now also has a similar policy in place which has seen him use Kieren Fallon in addition to retained jockey Silvestre de Sousa.
There are four BETDAQ sponsored races on the Kempton card this evening:
6:20 Cash Out On The Betdaq App Handicap (4yo+, Class 6, 5f, 8 runners)
And if you haven’t already downloaded the BETDAQ App – then do so now – that’s an order! It’s great to have BETDAQ in your pocket and the new CASH OUT facility is a great new addition. Three of the eight runners here disappointed last time out when beaten favourites including Pharoh Jake who was fourth at Windsor. That came over 6f and I think he is better over the minimum trip, although is closely matched with Quality Art on earlier course and distance form and not certain to beat that bigger priced rival. I quite liked the look of Lager Time and the fact he has been off the track for 190 days is countered with the news that there has been plenty of early support for him on BETDAQ, suggesting that fitness might not be a negative issue. He’s only had one previous start at Kempton – fourth in a class 4 handicap over 6f but is a winner over this trip and is the sort that might well run well freshened up after a break.
7:20 Betdaq – The Sports Betting Exchange Handicap (London Middle Distance Series Qualifier) (4yo+, Class 3, 1m 3f, 12 runners)
Sir Michael Stoute had a nice winner with Royal Seal in the opener at Yarmouth last night and his Economy really catches the eye at the bottom of the weights here. He was narrowly beaten by Buchanan on debut at Lingfield but then made really hard work (at odds of 1/4) of losing his maiden tag here at Kempton. Clearly he could easily improve and has more scope than the rest of the field but on the bear evidence of what he has achieved so far he has to be a place lay for me at around 2.44 on BETDAQ. He’s up against some real seasoned performers tonight including Jazz Master who was second to Arab Spring in a class 3 handicap at Doncaster last time.
7:50 Betdaq No Premium Charge Handicap (London Mile Series Qualifier) (4yo+, Class 4, 1m, 11 runners)
The race is titled the No Premium Charge at BETDAQ (hurray) but there could well be a premium charge in the race itself as there is likely to be plenty of pace on here. Lawmans Thunder likes to race just off the pace and judged by the way in which he won last time – by four and a half lengths ‘on the bit’ – a course and distance hat-trick looks very much on the cards. He’s up 12lb in the weights from last time which is significant but I still feel he’s on the upgrade and might again be equal to the task.
8:50 Betdaq 25 No Lose Free Bet Apprentice Handicap (4yo+, Class 5, 1m 3f, 10 runners)
Megalala might be 13 but has enjoyed a renaissance recently with two wins on the turf at Brighton where he has made all the running. He holds two of today’s main rivals Nelson Quay and Mr Lando on Brighton form and can strike again. It’s unfair to say Megalala is better on turf as he has winning form around here too.
