SHAMROCK HEADS TO CLONMEL: For their evening jumps card on Thursday. His NAP runs in the St. Patrick’s Well Maiden Hurdle at 6.50pm.
Generally big fields on the Clonmel card this evening with the ground remaining soft.
For my nap I’m heading to the 6.50 race – the St. Patrick’s Well Maiden Hurdle over 2m 100y. Thefiddlerofduneen was a good second on her hurdling debut at Roscommon but it came on good ground and I’m not convinced she will be equally as effective here. She has also disappointed on the flat in her races since.
There’s little solid form to go on amongst her rivals but ex-French trained runner Reflet Ambre did at least show something on his hurdling debut at Limerick when sixth to Princess Leya. He wasn’t beaten that far and although he didn’t show much subsequently on the flat here at Clonmel he gets the vote in a race that I don’t think will take too much winning. It’s so bad that you certainly have to keep one eye on the debutant Triomonti in the BETDAQ market, 15.5 at the time of writing.
Meanwhile on Saturday it’s confirmed that Kingman faces 13 opponents in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.
Runner-up at Newmarket in the 2000 Guineas he gets the chance to make amends – his Newmarket conqueror Night Of Thunder doesn’t renew rivalry.
