SHAMROCK’S PALACE APPOINTMENT: A winning NAP from SHAMROCK on Monday when PALACE (NAP) WON 11/8 in the Listed race at Killarney last night. It was his only bet of the day.

The drop in class and distance proved the perfect combination when Palace won the Cairn Rouge Stakes at Killarney last night at 11/8.

It was my nap and only bet of the day but am wishing I had a place on Dalkova too having said yesterday:

Jonny Murtagh’s horses are running well and Dalkova looks an interesting place prospect at decent odds. She takes a big step up in class but that looks worth a try following her runaway handicap success at Naas last time out.

Dalkova finished a half length second at 14/1.

Back to beautiful Killarney tonight for a mixed card which gets underway at 6.00.

A word of caution if you are planning on backing Stay De Night at short odds in the 6.30. I’m not one for crabbing debut successes (horses can do no more than win etc…) but it’s worth a wealth warning when they are such a short priced favourite to follow up. Stay De Night started odds on favourite for his debut at Limerick and won well enough but it was a very moderate race and the runner-up Bad News Bear has let the form down badly since finishing 7th of 7 at Bellewstown and 6th of 7 at Navan.

A lay at 1.81 is not going to break the bank and that looks the play for me on BETDAQ.

It’s a relatively rare NAP LAY for me or should that be LAY NAP ? Whatever, I’m against Stay De Night.
