ARC DAY AND GOOD CARD AT TIPPERARY: Plenty for Irish racing fans to get stuck into on Sunday with a hugely competitive Arc and a great mixed card at home at Tipperary.
Anyone got any idea what’s actually going to win the Arc ?
Forget that, anyone got any idea what will even be favourite for the Arc ?
It’s ridiculously open this year and looking at the morning BETDAQ odds any one of around seven horses could still go off favourite.
The last Irish trained winner came in 2009 with the exceptional Sea The Stars and before that Aidan O’Brien brought the prize home with Dylan Thomas in 2007.
O’Brien is triple handed this year with the market suggesting that Ruler Of The World with Frankie Detorri onboard has the best chance.
Last year’s Epsom Derby winner was ridden by Dettori for the first time when winning the Prix Foy over course and distance last time out and the relative fresh campaign he has had might well be in his favour as he comes here a fresh horse.
After his win Dettori said: “I was very impressed. He’s a very, very good horse. The time was great, he did it all on his own – he had to do it the hard way and it never looked in doubt. He’d also had a long lay-off and I’m sure that Aidan will improve him a little bit more and he is the Derby winner.”
I’m playing him win and place on BETDAQ at odds of around 19 and 5.5 respectively.
There’s a great mixed card at Tipperary on Sunday and the flat feature is the Coolmore Stud Home Of Champions Concorde Stakes (Group 3) at 2.40.
Last year’s 1-2 Sruthan and Big Break do battle again and it could well be the same order this year.
Rebel Fitz looks the banker of the day in the Istabraq Hurdle (Grade 2) at 3.50.
He has won eight from his last nine starts – a combination of flat, hurdles and chases. He has plenty in hand on official ratings today.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Rebel Fitz (3.50 Tipperary)
WIN AND PLACE: Ruler Of The World (The Arc, Longchamp 3.30)
