TRYING TO KEEP MY TIPPING FORM UP I had another good week last week on the column last week, getting some nice winners. Hopefully I can keep up my run of form from the last couple of weeks in this weeks’s selections.
Despite not being directly involved in jumps racing, I have been doing well in the tips department thus far, maybe it is a benefit of not being too close to it. First up this week I am going to look towards the Classic Chase at Warwick. My choice in this one is Vivaldi Collonges, he won with a lot in hand his last time out which I feel would have given him a lot of confidence. Yes it was an easy race, but winning by the distance he did has to give him confidence coming into his next race.
He always wears a tongue tie, which means his breathing isn’t going to be great, so that extra bit of confidence from the last race should really stand to him. His last race was also coming off of a pretty long break, so it was an excellent introduction which again all builds the confidence of the horse, so I see him building on his last run.
There is also some good racing from Lingfield tomorrow. I am looking at the 14.20 race, and I like the look of Boomerang Bob in this one. William Carson who has won on him a couple of times before will be riding him tomorrow which will make a big difference because he know the horse. Boomerang Bob really needs a confidence building race in this one, and the fact that it is a small field will really help him as well because he needs holding up but it won’t be as complicated getting through them all.
In the 14.55 at Lingfield I have gone for a horse called Intrude. He is a course and distance winner which will definitely stand to him. He is trained by David Simcock, who very rarely has a horse really revved up if they haven’t raced in a while. Despite this, even off of a break I think Intrude’s quality in comparison to the other horses in the field will show through and he will have enough to get a win in this one.
If there was one other horse from this race that you could pick to challenge Interlude it would be Forceful Appeal. He is probably up to his best marker at the moment and has a three pound claimer on with Jack Duern riding him. I know Forcefull Appeal pretty well as I won on him a couple of times. He loves this track and loves to run when fresh, so this is really his time of year. Outside of these two I don’t really see any others to really challenge.
There is another race at Chelmsford I would like to look at. Lamar who is running in the 14:45 is very suited to this conditions race. I really like the way she won her last time out in Lingfield, it was a very uncomplicated win. After the race it also came out that she’s getting covered so they’re not saving her for the All Weather Champions Finals so I would definitely get on her at this stage.
I don’t know what price Saeed bin Suroor is for the All Weather Champion trainer but he seems to be winning a lot of the fast track qualifiers and he’s got a couple of nice looking horses. One is called Lets Go and another called Raceday. I think he would be the one to back for the champion trainer depending on what price you can get, and I would also keep an eye on these two horses. They may not be out again until around the end of March, but if they are, they are worth watching.
One to look back on from yesterday was Polar River who was lightly ridden and still won the 1000 Guineas trial. It won quite impressively in this one, and made it two wins from its first two races which is obviously an excellent start.
HOPING O’SULLIVAN MAKES THE FINAL
I am going to be heading to the Masters final in the snooker this Sunday, which I am really looking forward to. It has become somewhat of an annual thing for me and I really enjoy it. I am hoping that Ronnie O’Sullivan can get through his semi-final on Saturday as the final would be much more enjoyable with him in it. He is the favourite to win the tournament and it seems that absolutely everybody loves him.
I have been keeping up with the Masters thus far and the atmosphere for O’Sullivan’s games has been brilliant, so it would certainly be amazing if he makes the final. It would make a very enjoyable night that bit better for me.
