1,000 Guineas Day and hopefully better results than yesterday.
1:55 Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas (Group 1) (3yo, Class 1, 1m, 10 runners)
Minding was hugely impressive when winning the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and can complete the double. As we saw with Galileo Gold yesterday, it’s not always straightforward and Minding is plenty short enough in the market. However, she has 10lb and more in hand over her rivals and she can take this en route to the Oaks at Epsom.
I thought Tanaza looked interesting in the place market. She has four lengths to find with Minding on Moyglare Stud Stakes form from last season but with improvement from two to three-years-old could give us a good run for our money at around 4.5 on the BETDAQ PLACE market.
2:30 Airlie Stud Gallinule Stakes (Group 3) (3yo, Class 1, 1m 2f, 6 runners)
Beacon Rock is a lay for me. Aidan O’Brien has four of the remaining runners now that Flying Bullet is a non runner but looks too short. He’s got good placed form but seems to run out of steam in the closing stages and might be vulnerable.
3:40 Tattersalls Gold Cup (Group 1) (4yo+, Class 1, 1m 2f 110y, 6 runners)
Found won well here last time, it was a Group 3 but she is already a Group 1 and Grade 1 winning filly who was successful in the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Keeneland last season. We’re not going to get rich with this one but she picks herself – especially as she has the recent beating of biggest danger Fascinating Rock.
