EURO 2016 WEDNESDAY: We preview Wednesday’s first semi-final between PORTUGAL v WALES played at 8pm.

8pm Not many would have seen Wales getting this far in the tournament but how brilliant were they against Belgium, they pretty much bossed the game apart from the opening ten minutes or so of the second half, and who could write them off here against a team who have yet to win in 90 minutes in the tournament! The match odds at the time of writing are: Portugal 2.26, Wales 4.1 and the draw 3.1
It’s hard to commit to backing Portugal at 2.26 given their results so far and after their last two games have went to extra time, Wales will surely be the fresher of the pair coming into this game. We would be happy to back Wales at 4.1, however Aaron Ramsey is a huge loss to them and his yellow card could cost them deeply, he has scored or assisted five of the last eight Wales goals – that is putting us off selecting Wales at 4.1 however at around the 2.7 mark to qualify, that could offer some value.
Laying Portugal to trade too might be an option, they’ve found it hard to score in the tournament thus far apart from their 3-3 against Hungary, but we feel that there could be goals in this one, Wales really played positively against Belgium and after a poor game against Northern Ireland when they offered little going forward, they surely must see the key to success for them is to attack. Over 2.5 goals looks on the large side at around 2.7.
