Manchester United v Southampton
8pm Manchester United got their campaign off to a really nice start against Bournemouth in the opening weekend – with goals from Zlatan and Rooney, they couldn’t have asked for a better start. However, Bournemouth were quite poor if we’re being honest about it and they’ll face a tougher challenge against a very good Southampton side here – you have to think that the 1.46 on United feels too short for lumping on. OK a different manager and a different side, but United are without a win in the last three league meetings with Southampton at Old Trafford, and when you thinking about it – we’ll probably see United at 1.46 to beat a much weaker side at home than Southampton this season.
So, where is the value then? Goals is an obvious place to start – with both teams conceding and scoring the weekend, over 2.5 looks a good option at around the 2.04 mark. Southampton have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 Premier League games and their games were packed with goals towards the end of last season. The second half in United v Bournemouth turned out to be fairly open, and we could see the same here – we feel that over 2.5 goals at 2.04 is far better value than the United win at 1.46 and thus that will be our best bet here.
