RED MILLS DAY AT GOWRAN: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the two feature races on Red Mills day at Gowran.
It’s heavy ground at Gowran today for Red Mills day.
1:55 Red Mills Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 4f, 4 runners)
The favourite has won the last two runnings of this and Ballycasey looks set to make it a hat-trick.
The Willie Mullins trained runner has plenty in hand on official ratings on his three rivals and the heavy ground wasn’t an inconvenience for him earlier in his career.
He was an odds-on third in the Grade 2 Fortria Chase at Navan last time out but this might be easier as it’s a disappointing turn out for a good prize.
Clarcam is the obvious danger as the other pair can be readily dismissed.
3:05 Red Mills Trial Hurdle (Grade 3) (4yo+, Class 1, 2m, 5 runners)
This is all about the Jessica Harrington trained Jezki who made a winning reappearance at Navan and in a year where the Champion Hurdle has been blown wide open he might well be back for another crack after his win in 2014.
Tombstone was back in third at Navan and it would need Jezki to run below Navan form for that to be turned around.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Jezki (3.05 Gowran)
NEXT BEST: Ballycasey (1.55 Gowran)
