5/2 WINNING NAP: SHAMROCK’s trip to Limerick on Thursday was rewarded with a 5/2 WINNING NAP in Ministerforsport in the maiden hurdle.
A nice 5/2 winning nap yesterday with Ministerforsport at Limerick in a race where the even money favourite Epicuris ran very poorly.
It’s the final day of the Leopardstown Christmas Festival today and with some rain about the ground is now soft with the risk of further rain this afternoon.
Star attraction is obviously Faugheen in the Grade 1 Ryanair Hurdle and he should have little difficulty in a race where he has 19lb in hand of his closest rival. He certainly appeared as good as ever after reappearing from a lengthy break to win the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown.
The other Grade 1 on the card at 1.55pm the Neville Hotels Novice Chase looks a little more competitive with the favourite being Monalee who jumped for fun on his chasing debut at Punchestown.
He was a Grade 3 winner over hurdles but showed plenty of class when runner-up to Penhill in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
However, Rathvinden will a tough rival. He has plenty of chasing experience including four wins and ran a big race at Fairyhouse last time out when second to Death Duty in the Drinmore.
The price differential between Monalee and Rathvinden looks crazy and I have to be with the Willie Mullins trained runner here.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Rathvinden (1.55 Leopardstown)
