WORLD CUP: We preview Wednesday’s four World Cup games between MEXICO V SWEDEN, SOUTH KOREA V GERMANY, SERBIA V BRAZIL and SWITZERLAND V COSTA RICA each with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MEXICO V SWEDEN
3pm Mexico are sitting pretty at the top of Group F with two wins from two games, however Germany and Sweden both have three points so they can’t afford to slip up now at the final hurdle. Sweden came so close to putting Germany out of the World Cup last time out; and while they’ll be absolutely gutted about that last minute goal – surely they can take confidence from pushing them so close.
We have a pretty open market, with the match odds at the time of writing; Mexico 2.46, Sweden 3.3 and the draw is 3.35. It’s hard to get away from Mexico at odds of 2.46 – they managed to keep Germany from scoring for 90 minutes and have looked solid in their two games. Sweden have been solid too; however they don’t look to be in the same class as this Mexico side and with Sweden needing to win we can see Mexico creating some excellent chances on the counter attack.

SOUTH KOREA V GERMANY
3pm Germany won’t enjoy being in this position after two Group games, however they will be happy that they play South Korea. The markets expect a smooth German win with them trading favourites odds on to win. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; South Korea 19.0, Germany 1.2 and the draw is 8.2.
It’s almost impossible to see anything other than a Germany win here. South Korea have nothing to play for and it’s hard to see them defending for 90 minutes for a draw when it means nothing. They can go for glory here and play a bit more attacking football than they have done in their opening two games – however you have to think that will suit Germany and we can see goals here. We feel that Germany can cover the handicap here; they’re trading 1.67 -1.5 goals and that looks great value.

SERBIA V BRAZIL
7pm Group E is one of the more interesting Groups going into the final games with Brazil and Switzerland on four points and Serbia on three points. Serbia and Switzerland wins would obviously see the tournament favourites exit at the Group stage in a huge shock – so everything is to play for here!
Brazil have dominated games at times in their opening two games, however they’ve failed to take advantage. Costa Rica came very close to holding them to a draw last time out and they seem pretty short here at the odds. At the time of writing the match odds currently trade; Serbia 7.6, Brazil 1.54 and the draw is 4.5. Serbia are a very solid side and given that Brazil have struggled to score so far in this World Cup – we have to take a chance on them here and lay them at 1.54. We can really see this game being closer than those odds suggest.

SWITZERLAND V COSTA RICA
7pm Costa Rica are the only team in Group E who don’t have a chance of qualifying going into the last round of games; however they have performed with credit in this World Cup. They came so close to getting a draw against Brazil last time out and were only beaten 1-0 by Serbia – they have battled well and if they play like that tonight they can frustrate this Switzerland side.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Switzerland 1.75, Costa Rica 6.8 and the draw is 3.5. It’s hard to know what Costa Rica might do here given that they are out of the tournament – it’s hard to see them defending for 90 minutes with nothing to play for. We can see them attacking more and leaving gaps at the back for Switzerland to take advantage of. Switzerland have plenty of goals in them and we’re going to go against the crowd here and back over 2.5 goals at 2.36. That looks too big given the situation with Costa Rica in the Group and we expect an entertaining game.
