CHARBEL TAKES DAQMAN INTO 7-4 LEAD OVER PRICEWISE: Daqman landed a 13-8 against supernap when Charbel winged his way round Huntingdon yesterday, giving him a 7-4 lead over Pricewise, as the 11th season of the challenge begins to gather momentum. Daqman (+0.64) needs a decent winner this week to overhaul the Pricewise profit total (+7.33). Charbel was one of Daqman’s horses to follow, which he updates today, plotting their next engagements.
DAQMAN’S HORSES-TO-FOLLOW UPDATE
BUVEUR D’AIR Altior continues to score as if there’s no opposition, so there’ll be no price about him. But Buveur d’Air could get some competition.
CHAMP hacked up in the Ladbrokes Hurdle, a Graded horse playing in a handicap.
CHARBEL (WON 13-8) Brilliant round at Huntingdon yesterday, with Noel Fehily showing maximum confidence to make all the running, winging every fence.
CLAN DES OBEAUX, King George V1 Chase, Boxing Day
ELDORADO ALLEN (UR) badly hampered and unseated Saturday
ELEGANT ESCAPE (2nd 4-1): ran well at the weights on Saturday, despite jumping indifferently; an even longer trip will sort that problem. Coral Welsh National, December 27
FIDUX Ascot Hurdle Saturday, December 22
FRODON (2nd 16-1) Winter Gold Cup, Cheltenham, Saturday
JACK DILLINGER Future Champions Novice Hurdle, Leopardstown, December 27
LALOR (3rd 8-11) good ground winner over Dynamite Dollars had the tables turned on him when they encountered heavy ground at Sandown.
Many will want to follow Dynamite Dollars but he doesn’t look an Arkle horse, and it’s hard to see where he’s going to go from here. I think he’ll follow the mud at the minimum trip; he’s already been tried over further.
LE PREZIEN Winter Gold Cup, Cheltenham, Saturday
MISSED APPROACH Had to try to win the Becher twice, first by racing up to rejoin the pack from a long way back after missing the break. He then duelled at the front, and fiddled several fences.
The sort of chancer who could run away with a stamina test at some time in the season.
NATIVE RIVER King George, Boxing Day
PALMERS HILL nothing scheduled
POLITOLOGUE (WON 5-4) King George, Kempton, Boxing Day.

LIVA TO LIGHT UP MONDAY
12.30 Lingfield Heavy ground at Lingfield for their jumps card which is nearly always an odds-on shot in itself.
It won’t impact the first however, as that’s run on the all-weather surface – a bumper over two miles.
My man in the long grass passes on a good word for the Dan Skelton trained newcomer Nimby who is expected to have plenty of pace for this and a nice pedigree for this genre of race. The trainer’s continued good form is an obvious added positive.
The early BETDAQ signs are positive and he can make a winning start against largely debutant opposition.
Tribesmans Glory was a winner of a point to point at Loughanmore is possibly the biggest threat if he’s got the speed for this shorter trip.
2.15 Musselburgh On a modest days racing this class 2 juvenile hurdle is the standout race of the day but hasn’t attracted an entry worthy of the race status or indeed prize money.
It could well now be at the mercy of Liva who chased home Travel Lightly on his hurdling debut at Catterick. The form is by no means outstanding and Travel Lightly was well beaten in Listed company at Aintree on Saturday but we are back to the quality of Liva’s rivals and he almost gets the vote by default. His trainer Donald McCain has had 5 winners and 9 seconds from his last 47 runners which is strong enough.
Paddy The Chef was a good to firm winner on the flat and might represent the biggest threat on his hurdling debut.
6.30 Wolverhampton Top weight Western Duke is dropping down the handicap but is proving very hard to win with and is now up in trip.
I prefer the chances of Champarisi won well here nine days ago and is taken to defy the 3lb hike in the weights and the Grant Tuer trained filly could be even more effective over this longer trip.

BET 7.0pts win NIMBY (12.30 Lingfield)
BET 15.8pts win (nap) LIVA (2.15 Musselburgh)
