CLONMEL THURSDAY NAP: SHAMROCK looks ahead to this afternoon’s Munster Hurdle at Clonmel where his nap runs.

Just the seven runners go to post for this afternoon’s Munster Hurdle at Clonmel but it at least looks competitive – more so than the following maiden hurdle which has 17 runners but a likely odds-on favourite in the shape of the Willie Mullins trained Dento Des Obeaux.

Mullins runs Epswell in the Munster Hurdle who was pulled up at Galway on similar ground to today in October but then bounced back to run a respectable fourth at Gowran. He’s back up in trip today which should help, as he won over 2m 4f on stable debut at Sligo. I think he still has questions to answer though, especially with give in the ground.

There might still be more to come from Daybreak Boy who impressed when winning his maiden hurdle at Navan (stayed on well over two miles, won by six and a half lengths) and then was outclassed, but by no means disgraced when 6th in the For Auction Novice Hurdle at Navan. The concern would be about him being as effective over this longer trip – so ideally I don’t want to see any rain.

NAP: Daybreak Boy (1.25 Clonmel)
