Khage Win
I was really pleased with Khage’s performance at Taunton on Wednesday. I must admit turning in I was panicking a bit, but from the back of the second last he galloped away in really impressive fashion.
Gavin [Sheehan] thinks that on good ground he wants a bit further and with that in mind, we’ll aim him at a novice contest over two and a half miles under a penalty.
We learnt plenty from the performance which bodes really well for the future. He’s learning all the time and we’ve always seen him as a chaser in the making. That’s where we’ll see the best of him.
Weekend Entries
Honourmission makes his debut for the yard in the closing bumper (4.05pm) at Warwick. He had a good racecourse gallop at Newbury a couple of weeks ago and we were very happy with that. Conditions should suit him really well and I’d like to think he’ll run a big race.
Over at Kempton, we run Cold March in the handicap chase (1.30pm). He’s lost his way a little bit, but all the guys at home say he’s in the form of his life so he’s got to go out there and prove it on the racecourse now.
There’s no doubt he has ability, so fingers crossed he can prove the fire still burns bright on Saturday.
Finally, Dara’s Present takes his chance at Wetherby in the maiden hurdle (12.30pm). He’s an enormous horse and we see his future much more over fences, but he should come on plenty from his run at Warwick last month.
Dublin Chase very much under consideration for Saint Calvados
As I mentioned earlier in the week, the Dublin Chase at Leopardstown is a race we are considering for Saint Calvados. We’d love to take him over to Ireland again, but we need to look at the race and decide if the race is right on paper for the horse. The chance to run him in a Grade One is obviously very exciting and if the race suits, we’ll take him there.
