DAQMAN LAUNCHES AW HORSES TO FOLLOW: Daqman has seven Fortune Cookies running over Jumps in the next fortnight. Today he also introduces AW Horses to Follow, hoping to find a progressive horse or two for the rest of the winter AW Flat and into the turf season. Last year, he started with City Light, subsequent AW Sprint Champion.

The Maxwecan and the gambled on New King (1m) had won their previous starts and the race looks solid. Follow the first three home.
HURRY HOME HARAMBE
1.40 Newbury This looks a well below average novices’ hurdle by the usual high standard of the course.
So much so that the Alan King trained Harambe becomes the selection by default. He’s a 127 rated horses and that should easily proved good enough against his rivals here.
We can also put a tick next to trainer form as King has had four winners (across both codes) from his last 27 runners with a further 11 placed.
Whilst Harambe’s only win to date came on debut on soft ground at Ludlow, he has also performed well on a quicker surface too, notably at Warwick when a close second to My Mate Mark. He was fairly well held in fourth here last time but it came over a longer trip and the step back in distance should be perfect.
It’s not inconceivable that some of his lighter raced rivals can show significant improvement as they will need to do – but the biggest danger is probably the debutant Point Taken who was a short head winner on the flat at Dundalk before joining Dan Skelton.

3.20 Newbury A mares novices’ hurdle event which looks quite open. The Nicky Henderson trained Sunrise Ruby won with plenty in hand on debut at Southwell (turf course: good ground) last June – the runner-up Skin Deep has gone on to win twice.
She remains an interesting prospect but again I side with Alan King, this time with Midnightreferendum who has the recent form and more experience. She also has plenty of class as she proved when finishing second in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree and won well over hurdles at Fontwell last time out.
8.00 Kempton The final selection is a little more speculative.
The Ffrench Davis stable popped up with a 25/1 winner at Wolverhampton on Monday and I think the filly Cosmogyral has a good chance for them here off a mark of 53.
She was a well beaten second by Zarrar a few starts back over course and distance but take the winner out and it was a sound effort in a race that looked no tougher than this. Her recent disappointing effort at Southwell is probably put down to her not liking her first try on that unique surface.
