BUMPER NAP: SHAMROCK’S day two nap at Cheltenham runs in the Champion Bumper at 5.30pm.
Disaster on the first day of the Festival when my nap Benie Des Dieux took a tumble in the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle with the race surely in the bag with her three length lead?
What can you do? Apart from switch to a race without obstacles which I intend to do today for the intriguing Weatherbys Champion Bumper which concludes the card.
The Irish and Willie Mullins have a great record in this, but not always with the first string. Relegate popped up at 25/1 to win this for Mullins last year in a famous 1-2-3 for the stable.
Astonishingly, Mullins only has one runner this year – and the chance of Blue Sari obviously has to be respected after an 11 length debut win on soft ground at Gowran.
I just prefer the chances of the Gordon Elliott trained Envoi Allen though. He has won all three of his bumpers and stepped up to Grade 2 level to win at Leopardstown last time out.
He has a little more experience which hopefully will be put to good use.
