CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL: What a final to look forward to in Madrid. We preview TOTTENHAM v LIVERPOOL with a recommended BETDAQ bet. One point of interest to Liverpool odds on players: Jurgen Klopp has managed to lose his last six major finals!
TOTTENHAM V LIVERPOOL
8pm Chelsea ran out comfortable winners of the all England Europa League Final on Wednesday night, but now it’s time of the highlight of the week. The Europa League Final had a strange feel to it, perhaps because of the location and resulting atmosphere – however there’s no doubt that Saturday night will be a special occasion. Both sides have been through a rollercoaster ride in the Champions League this season, and it’s set up to be an amazing final.
Remember when Spurs had to go to Camp Nou and get a result just to have a chance of getting out of the Group stages? That feels like so long ago. That was even before all their drama with Manchester City and Ajax! While Liverpool produced one of the most talked about games in the Champions League for years when coming from 3-0 down after the first leg against Barcelona; and now we hope that we see plenty of drama again in the final.
Liverpool are slightly odds on favourites on BETDAQ with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Tottenham 4.4, Liverpool 1.97 and the draw is 3.65. While in the ‘Winner 2018/2019’ market; Tottenham are 2.82 while Liverpool trade 1.54. Obviously both sides have met in the Premier League this season and Liverpool won on both occasions. Both times running out 2-1 winners – they did need a 90th minute goal at Anfield though.
Both Teams To Score looks good value at 1.78 having seen their games in the Premier League this season. Neither team is afraid to attack and that will more than likely be the response to going behind too. While over 2.5 goals is trading slightly odds on at 1.91 – that looks worth backing too; although Both Teams To Score offers better value in our view. Both sides have scored in seven of the last eight meetings.
Something to note with Liverpool odds on is Jurgen Klopp has managed to lose his last six major finals – very surprising considering what a top quality coach he is. He faces a coach of the finest quality here though in Mauricio Pochettino and it will be absolutely fascinating to see how the sides line-up in the first ten minutes; and if anything changes quickly.
In the match odds market, we would lay Liverpool at slightly odds on from a value point of view. We just see this game being a lot closer than odds on 1.97 suggest. However we can’t get away from Both Teams To Score as our best bet. Both sides have been excellent in front of goal this season and they play attacking football – we should have an excellent game!
