PREMIER LEAGUE SUNDAY: We preview Sunday’s two Premier League games between ASTON VILLA v TOTTENHAM (2pm) and ARSENAL v NEWCASTLE (4.30pm) with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended match stats.
ASTON VILLA V TOTTENHAM
2pm This is a massive game for Aston Villa in their fight to stay up. Watford and Brighton could only draw with each other last weekend, meaning Villa have stayed in 17th and now have a game in hand on Watford. A win here would see them jump past Brighton and Bournemouth into 15th and have an extra bit of cushion. Spurs come into this fixture with a woeful away record, so the home side will surely be confident of getting a result. This should be a decent game to watch.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Aston Villa 4.3, Tottenham 1.94 and the draw is 3.95. Spurs have managed just two wins from their last 18 away Premier League games and with stats like that; you can’t back prices likes 1.94. They do have a good record against Aston Villa though and they also managed to beat Manchester City recently. That came in London though and with Villa fighting for survival we’re happy to lay the away side at 1.94 here. Spurs have conceded far too many goals this season to back them here and we can’t have them at odds on.

- Aston Villa are winless in their last eight Premier League home games against Spurs (D2 L6), losing each of the last four in a row. They last beat Spurs at Villa Park in January 2008 (2-1).
- In all competitions, Spurs have won 10 of their last 11 meetings with Aston Villa, losing the other 0-1 at White Hart Lane in April 2015.

ARSENAL V NEWCASTLE
4.30pm There’s no doubt that Mikel Arteta has improved Arsenal since coming in, but he has yet to really get them over the winning line. They continue to draw too many games and still look shaky under pressure. The signs are good, but of course we have been here before with Arsenal and the reality is that they need to start winning games. They are sitting in mid-table and unless they finish the season very strongly they won’t even make the Europa League next season. They have an excellent record against Newcastle though and we will expecting to win today.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Arsenal 1.45, Newcastle 9.0 and the draw is 4.9. Newcastle have lost 13 of their last 14 Premier League meetings with Arsenal, including the last seven in a row. With that being said, we still can’t back Arsenal at 1.45. It’s just too short for this Arsenal side who are drawing too many games. The problem since Wenger left is their unreliableness are crept into their home form as well as their away form and we just can’t have them at prices like 1.45. Although they’ve drawn three of them, Newcastle come here unbeaten in four and we’re happy to take a chance on the draw here at 4.9 which looks good value.
