HRI UPDATE: News broke on Wednesday afternoon that Irish Racing will continue behind closed doors for the rest of March.
The HRI was given the go ahead from the Irish Government after staging five fixtures behind closed doors and receiving excellent reviews from trainers and jockeys. There were so changes that had to be made, mainly because double meetings weren’t allowed.
That has meant that the HRI have had to move some fixtures around. The new fixture list is as follows:
Friday 20 Dundalk (moved to afternoon meeting)
Saturday 21 Thurles
Sunday 22 Downpatrick
Monday 23 Naas (from Sunday March 22)
Tuesday 24 Clonmel
Wednesday 25 Dundalk (now afternoon meeting) (from Friday March 27)
Thursday 26 Cork
Friday 27 Navan (from Saturday March 28)
Saturday 28 Curragh (from Sunday March 29)
Sunday 29 Limerick
Given we have no UK horse racing at the moment, having an irish race meeting every day will be a huge boost for the Racing public. And with the lack of sport on around the world, it’s a good chance for Irish racing to find some new fans too.
