BALLYSAX NAP: SHAMROCK heads to Dundalk on Sunday for his NAP running in the Ballysax Stakes at 5.30pm.
The Ballysax Stakes (Group 3) is being run at Dundalk instead of Leopardstown in this reshaped season.
Aidan O’Brien bids for a hat-trick in the race after winning the last two renewals with Nelson and Broome.
Monarch Of Egypt should extend the sequence. Rated 111 he has plenty in hand over his rivals but the cautionary note must be that his rivals are lightly raced and could easily improve further – especially Indicative Vote who won on debut at Roscommon.
But on the balance of form Monarch Of Egypt should gain his first win since he was successful on debut at Naas. He’s been pitched in pretty deeply since then – on three occasions has been beaten in races won by Siskin and ran a solid race last time out at Royal Ascot when second to Molatham in the Jersey Stakes.
Molatham reappears earlier today in the Qatar Prix Jean Prat at Deauville (3.25pm) so hopefully we’ll get a good form boost if that one runs well.
