MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Jamaica Tallawahs and the Guyana Amazon Warriors clash in the second game today at Queen’s Park Oval. This is the first day at the new venue, but we should have an idea of conditions from watching the first game this afternoon before these two play. The two sides met very recently at the weekend with Guyana winning a very low scoring affair.
It was desperately tough to bat at night at the Brian Lara Stadium, and it will be very interesting to see does that trend continue in the tournament as we move stadiums. Guyana were bowled out for 118 but they managed to defend it by 14 runs with Jamaica only managing 104/7. We were on Guyana that day as I thought Jamaica wouldn’t be able to handle their bowling, and they couldn’t! A lot depends on the pitch here – if it’s good for hitting sixes then Jamaica have an excellent batting line-up but if it’s in any way difficult for batting then I can’t see Jamaica being able to handle the Guyana bowlers.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We should learn a lot from the first game this afternoon, so definitely check out the scores and how the wicket played before having a bet in this one. I have to say, it will be fascinating to see does the night game trend continue here. It was desperately difficult to bet in the late game at the Brian Lara Stadium – while most cricket fans like to see high scores and sixes, the low scores make for some excellent drama.
As I noted earlier, we have a bigger sample of game at Queen’s Park Oval with the average score batting first in the Caribbean Premier League 146 in 2017, 194 in 2018 and 166 in 2019. We have had some really big scores here in the past and we should see a better wicket for batting than last week. The lowest amount of sixes recorded in a CPL game here is 10 – so expect plenty of big hits!
RECOMMENDED BET:
Guyana haven’t been as good this season as last year, but I feel they will get the job done again over this Jamaica side. Jamaica have only managed one win from three games and that came against the St Lucia Zouks. The Zouks were poor last season, however their batting has been pretty good this year. Guyana won all their games last season apart from the final and although they were never going to repeat that level; they have been slightly disappointing this season. I still feel they have the class to beat this Jamaica side though.
Stakes should be small here, as I would like the Guyana bet a lot more if I knew the pitch would favour the bowlers. On a spinning wicket that’s tough to bat on, Guyana are the much better side here. However, on a wicket full of runs Jamaica have some dangerous six hitters and I wouldn’t want to be massively against them if that was the case.
The Edge Says:
One point win Guyana Amazon Warriors to beat Jamaica Tallawahs at 1.87 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
As I said above, a lot of the in-running strategy is going to focus around what the batting conditions are like. Even allowing for the first game today being good for batting – it was still a nightmare at night even after a decent score was posted in the early game. It’s just a case of wait and see for this one as to what the tactics should be.
You’d have to fancy Guyana’s bowlers on a tough wicket and aim for some trades on the bowlers if that’s the case. If the ball is going around the park; and it could easily happen, then all bets are off on Guyana and I would be looking for some trades on the Jamaica lower order along with targeting some trades on the team batting second. A lot depends on the pitch here and conditions, don’t rush in.
