LATEST SHAMROCK NAP WINS AT 6/4: Baron Samedi gave SHAMROCK a 6/4 winning NAP on Thursday at Navan. Now for Saturday’s feature Irish Champion Stakes.
Baron Samedi stormed home at 6/4 to land the NAP and only bet on Thursday – reinforcing how well handicapped he was in the race.
Leopardstown has centre stage in Ireland on Saturday with the Irish Champion Stakes (4.10pm) one of two Group 1 races on the card.
It’s not really a betting race for me.
Charlie Appleby’s Ghaiyyath has been backed dramatically since he was confirmed a runner but now looks a little short in the market, however I’m struggling to find one to take him on with.
Rated 130, Ghaiyyath is unbeaten in four starts this year including the notable scalp of Enable in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown and he also holds Magical on form last time out in the Juddmonte at York. He’s a phenomenal horse but not one I want to be backing at odds on.
Will save the NAP for the Matron Stakes – the other Group 1 on the card at 3.10pm.
The Aidan O’Brien trained pair Fancy Blue and Peaceful head the market and it’s hard to split them.
Preference just goes to Peaceful, winner of the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh and only a neck behind Fancy Blue in the Prix De Diane at Chantilly last time out.
On quicker ground and over a shorter trip I think there’s every chance that form will be turned around.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
