DAQMAN DAY OF DESTINY (16-1) WITH A CHAMPAGNE TREBLE: It was triple value day on BETDAQ yesterday and right on cue Daqman landed a treble, three out of three big races at Doncaster, including the St Leger and two bull’s-eye bets worth 100 points (with no commission!) plus a Champagne celebration for his first supernap selection since August 9. In race order:

SUNDAY FEAST OF 10 BIG RACES: 35-23 AHEAD OF PRICEWISE: The Daqman trio took him 35-23 ahead of Pricewise of the Racing Post for winners this Flat season. Today they clash again during Day Two of Irish champions weekend plus the Arc trials on Grand Prix afternoon at Longchamp, making up a 10-race bonanza of big races starting at 2pm.

⭕ 2.00 The Curragh (Bold Lad Sprint) The ground should be riding the easy side of good. Older horses like Mr Lupton and Treacherous can usually be discounted.
It’s 4-y-o six, 3-y-o three in the decade, all well fancied with eight winners between 100-30 and 8-1 SP.
Gulliver, third last year, is 8lb higher now but has the gift of a pound from the handicapper to avenge a short-head defeat by Romantic Proposal in the Scurry here in July.
But Romantic Proposal is up 8lb for that success, which suggests that improvement is required if either one is to be involved in the finish here.
Big Gossey (from stall 22 here) is unexposed after only six runs. He is 22113 and has already scored at the Curragh over 6f. I took BETDAQ offers of 11.0.
On the other side, Baraniya, who has set the pace over 7f before now, drops back to 6f with the cheekpieces removed. Huge at 19.5.
FANCY FORM SPEAKS FOR VOICE
⭕ 2.35 The Curragh (Blandford Stakes) Dermot Weld has won this Group 2 five times in the last six seasons.
Chris Hayes, his winning jockey last year, is on Amma Grace for him here, probably unlucky the last day to bump into a rapid improver of Joseph O’Brien’s.
Weld’s other runner, Zawara, beat the English Derby runner-up at Naas but is probably flattered, as the English Classic was ‘stolen’ by Serpentine (see 2.55 Longchamp today).
A 4.5 BETDAQ offer this morning, Magic Wand went globetrotting last backend and won the Mackinnon at Flemington but landed a Group 2 back at the Curragh in June.
But, when One Voice was pipped just a neck by Fancy Blue at Goodwood, Magic Wand was beaten favourite, more than four lengths behind her in fifth. Sectionals confirm the result.
9.0 MOGUL FOR MASTER BOUDOT
⭕ 2.55 Longchamp (Grand Prix De Paris) After coaxing Wichita home at Doncaster yesterday, Frankie Dettori is courting the quarantine regs again (on Stradivarius later on), first trying to restore faith in English King who didn’t have a happy day in the Derby.
Sweating, ducked left at start, pushed along, not reach runaway leader Serpentine, who is back at last to prove that was no fluke, though we now know he beat nonentities and non-stayers (like Guineas winner Kameko, who scarcely gets a yard behind the mile).
Mogul did better than most of the Epsom also-rans, beating Highland Chief in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood with English King, beaten favourite, fourth, also under Frankie.
Is the great flying dismounter a glutton for punishment or does he know something about English King that we don’t, other than that this entire Group-1 Parisian grand prix is no better than a Group 3?
Won the last twice by Aidan O’Brien with Kew Gardens and Japan, and Mogul (BETDAQ 9.0) may just be good enough to land the Ballydoyle hat-trick, with the brilliant Pierre-Charles Boudot booked (155 winners this year).
SLIPPERS BEST OF FLYING FOUR
⭕ 3.10 The Curragh (Flying Five Stakes) Kevin Ryan is the only trainer in this within a recent win in the race, Havana Grey (2018).
He saddles Abbaye winner Glass Slippers, who – in spite of the firm ground – got closer to Battaash at Goodwood than first time out at Royal Ascot.
She has always needed her reappearance run so you could say that today is her first outing since the Abbaye with some ease in the ground.
A’Ali beat Make A Challenge in the Sapphire in July over the Curragh CD. Ali has the one stall, like last year’s winner, Fairyland, while the five-year-old, better off at the weights, is sometimes an unruly starter, and has to make a challenge from wide out in 14.
Que Amoro, who outran his form by 9lb when second to Battaash in the Nunthorpe, has to prove that was no fluke; doesn’t want any rain.
Those four horses are in a narrow range of 1.6 points in the BETDAQ market but Glass Slippers (at 6.0) is the one suited by the conditions and seemingly spot on for this after a light season.
RAABIHAH CAN STAKE ARC CLAIM
⭕ 3.35 Longchamp (Prix Vermeille) The stepping-stone for great fillies and mares like Treve and Zarkava and, going right back to the good old bad old days, Three Troikas and Allez France.
Back before the lockdown, I put Raabibah into the Fortune Cookies, when she was thought likely to contest Royal Ascot and head for the Arc.
I took her out because we weren’t going to get a race out of her and she was going to be very short in France, and is evens or a shade of odds on in this competitive race.
Fourth to Fancy Blue in the French Oaks, she won a Group 3 at Deauville the last day at 2-5 favourite.
The Arc end of the plan is still a goer, and Jean-Claude Rouget expects her to win today and prove herself worth joining in the Love v Enable showdown. She’d have to win impressively if she is not to be the gooseberry.
In her way today are Irish Oaks winner Even So and Valia who, like Laburnum, was not suited to the heavy ground at the Deauville festival.
SHE’S A PRETTY GORGEOUS BET
⭕ 3.40 The Curragh (Moyglare Stud Stakes) Father and sons O’Brien seem to have this in the bag, Aidan running three, but the brothers of the house of Ballydoyle likely to fight out the finish.
That’s what’s happened twice now between Shale (for Donnacha) and Pretty Gorgeous (for Joseph), with Joseph currently the star in the ascendant after the St Leger victory of Galileo Chrome.
And Pretty Gorgeous, who turned around Leopardstown form with Shale when they met again here at the Curragh, is reckoned the filly star of the day.
Mother Earth witnessed one battle in third, A Ma Chere the other when also third. I can’t see anything stopping Pretty Gorgeous now, with ease in the surface.
BATTLEGROUND FOR THE COOKIES
⭕ 4.10 The Curragh (Vincent O’Brien National Stakes) Race of the season for two-year-olds so far. That’s why our Fortune Cookies’ pick of the generation meet in combat.
We can win money if, indeed, it is man-to-man gladiatoral but Master Of The Seas and Thunder Moon make this a Guineas come early.
The Fortune Cookies are Lucky Vega and Battleground, who won the Chesham (Group 2) and the Vintage Stakes, after starting out behind Lucky Vega in a Naas maiden.
Since then Vega has run second in the Railway Stakes and easily accounted for one of the benchmarks of the juvenile campaign, The Lir Jet, in the Phoenix (Group 1).
But Master Of The Seas, the Superlative winner at Newmarket, and Thunder Moon was as impressive as a Group winner in his maiden. Repeat the phrase ‘could be anything!’
IS STRADIVARIUS WAY BLOCKED?
⭕ 4.10 Longchamp (Prix Foy) Won the last two seasons by Waldgeist (Andre Fabre, Pierre-Charles Boudot). Beat Enable in last year’s Arc.
Maybe that’s one reason why John Gosden chose the race as the Arc prep for multiple Cup winner Stradivarius.
Way To Paris ran second to Waldgeist a year ago before that one won the Arc so the race is a genuine contest.
While Stradivarius needs further, Way To Paris has been back to his best dropped back to 1m 4f, and his 5.5 in the BETDAQ sportsbook this morning looked big.
Anthony Van Dyck divided Ghaiyyath and Stradivarius in the Hardwicke, yet more collateral form for the punter’s Godsend to get his teeth into.
PRINCE FOR A DAY IN THE LEGER
⭕ 4.40 The Curragh (Irish St Leger) Not a great race this year, with the 2019 Epsom Derby winner, Sovereign, trying to redeem a tarnished reputation at the main expense of a seven-year-old stayer, Twilight Payment.
But the other older stayer at the front end of the market, Fujaira Prince, is lightly raced for a six-year-old and won the Ebor with a very strong run. He’s had several opportunities but goes for the toughest option, suggesting further improvement at home. I took 4.5 on BETDAQ.
⭕ 4.45 Longchamp (Prix Du Pin) Earthlight is just the kind of two-year-old you need to avoid when assessing the 2021 Classics.
Like Pinatubo, he set up an unbeaten sequence, looking so good in landing the Middle Park and Prix Morny double and was 2,000 Guineas winter favourite at one time. What has happened in 2020? He’s won a Listed sprint.
He tries 7f for the first time in this race named after a town called of Pin. As Billy Connolly would say, pray god they have a tipping club called the Pinstickers.
