7.30pm Friday Night Football comes from the Olympiastadion where we kick off the weekend Bundesliga action with Hertha Berlin against Eintracht Frankfurt! The Bundesliga has been leading the way with getting fans back in stadiums, and hopefully their events keep going well. At the moment, it’s only home fans at a limited number of stadiums.
Hertha Berlin started their season with a 4-1 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday while Eintracht Frankfurt were very unlucky to start with a draw against Bundesliga new boys Arminia Bielefeld. Frankfurt were well on top, creating an xG of 2.26 but only scoring once.
Eintracht Frankfurt are very solid at the back, and although Hertha Berlin scored four last weekend, you’d still fancy Eintracht Frankfurt to be solid at the back here. Over 2.5 goals looks a little short at 1.7 for my liking; although the last two meetings between the sides have produced 9 goals! With a 2-2 and 4-1 win to Frankfurt.
There was only four points between these two sides last season as they finished beside each other in 9th and 10th in the Bundesliga. I take on board Hertha started well last weekend, but Frankfurt did too – they just didn’t convert their chances. I fully expect a very close game here and the draw makes a lot of appeal at 3.7. I would have it closer to 3.4 and I’m happy to back odds of 3.7!
