MATCH OVERVIEW:
It’s the second day in a row in Dubai on Wednesday as Delhi Capitals take on Rajasthan Royals. In the last few days, we have started to see the pitches slow down a lot, especially at Sharjah, and we should start to see that happening in Dubai as well. Rajasthan Royals finally put an end to their losing run here at the weekend when chasing down 158/4. A result that looked very unlikely after losing Smith and Buttler at 26/3. Their middle order finally had some success; they will need that to continue.
Delhi Capitals lost their top of the table clash to Mumbai Indians on the same day, and while Royal Challengers Bangalore have joined them on the same points, they have managed to stay in second after all the teams played 7 games. Delhi haven’t had much success in the IPL, they’ve had their issues and name changes in the past too, but they have an excellent squad and Ricky Ponting can guide them to the Play-offs this season.
As for today, Rajasthan would have been pleased to finally break their losing spell at the weekend, but they still have major issues. Sunrisers Hyderabad are a solid side, but they are unlikely to see success this season with the loss of their star bowler Bhuvneshwar. Beating Delhi is a different challenge.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
As noted above, we have started to see the wickets slowing down in recent games. Sharjah isn’t a 200 pitch anymore, and we have also had 200+ scores here which we are unlikely to see going forward. Chasing has been very tough here, and even though Rajasthan chased 158/4 here at the weekend, they traded a big price to do so in the chase. Anything under 160 is below par anyway to be honest, with the team batting first needing around 170. The thing about the IPL is we can always have some individual brilliance, like we have seen with AB de Villiers and RCB – adding possibly 30 runs to a total. I think par here is 170, but when sides successfully keep wickets in hand until the final five overs then anything is possible. Once again, we’re set fair with the weather.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I like Delhi here at 1.74. They have really impressed me in this IPL, and their squad is packed with talent. Their bowling is top quality, and while they couldn’t beat Mumbai at the weekend, we had a very good game between two excellent sides. Rajasthan need Smith and Buttler to score runs, and while they were able to win without them the weekend, they were chasing an under par target against a side with bowlers injured. Delhi are a much better side in my opinion and they should win today.
The Edge Says:
Two points win Delhi Capitals to beat Rajasthan Royals at 1.74 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With the pitches showing signs of changing, we need to adapt our in-running strategy. Scoring should become more difficult as the tournament goes on, but as we are in the middle period we’re going to get some changing conditions from game to game. For example, early games at Sharjah you knew we would have high scores, and now that pitch is changing. For this week, I would recommend going into every game with an open mind as to what conditions will be like.
Even with good batting conditions and heavy dew, we haven’t seen many successful chases here, so I feel you still want to be looking for trades on the team batting first. On Monday, RCB basically created a blueprint on how to play conditions at the moment. Try look out for teams in those positions, granted AB de Villiers is on a different planet! However, I would suggest a slower scoring rate with few wickets lost should be the aim for the first ten overs, then they have a platform to launch in the final five. That’s when to open the trade. This won’t happen every game, but it’s the best IPL trading option at the moment.
