1️⃣ Search For A Song Dermot Weld improver who already has the edge on several opponents today on Irish St Leger form and lines to it.
Sovereign was favourite but faded after trying front-running tactics again. Search For A Song won it from Fujaira Prince, who led in the last quarter mile but was run out of it.
2️⃣ Stradivarius Top rated off 125 and won this in 2018 as part of 10 wins-in-a-row sequence which ended in this race last year and just two out of the last six now.
However, June prep for his third Gold Cup win was defeat over shorter and it was same again in his Arc trial before failing to cope with sprint finish after slow-run Arc in the mud.
3️⃣ Dawn Patrol Third in the Irish Derby which gives him the class; winner of his first attempt at 2m three weeks back at the Curragh which gives him the stamina; but may need drying ground. Ridden by Pierre-Charles Boudot who has landed an incredible 196 winners this year.
4️⃣ Spanish Mission Doncaster Cup winner in the absence of Stradivarius, who had beaten him nearly seven lengths in the Goodwood Cup. Another not proven on soft-heavy.
Morando Place chance. Form on soft-heavy 1332121 and step up in trip could suit, but I think Search For A Song and Stradivarius are the ones to fight out first place.

1️⃣ Dream of Dreams Cracking late developer from Sir Michael Stoute, likes Ascot and soft ground, following second in the Diamond Jubilee with success in the Hungerford Stakes (7f) and the Haydock Sprint.
After gelding in the close season has been able to leave well behind his eighth in last year’s Haydock Sprint and poor 16 of 17 in this Champions Sprint at 20-1.
2️⃣ One Master It’s that man again, Pierre-Charles Boudot, on that amazing mare again, One Master, second in this race last year after winning the Foret (7f very soft), middle leg of the mare’s treble in that race at the Arc meeting.
Probably just short again of the speed required for this Champion Sprint but the Boudot brain will have been plotting .
3️⃣ Glen Shiel Fourth in the Balmoral Handicap on this card (1m) last year, and led the Buckingham Palace field (7f) to almost a furlong out at the royal meeting in June, has improved more than a stone since concentrating on 6f and was little more than a length off Dream of Dreams in the Haydock Sprint Cup.
4️⃣ Onassis Cape Byron has won four times at Ascot – kept fresh for this – but, if there is to be a shock outsider, as in the last two years, Onassis, the low-drawn mount of Hayley Turner, intrigues as a second-season hold-up filly with strong acceleration on soft.

STALLS: 2 has won three; 11 has won three!
AGE: 3-y-o six, 4yo three.

RATINGS: Nothing within 7lb of the majestic Magical, who goes in search of bigger scalps and leaves this race to such as her O’Brien stablemate, Laburnum, who looks best outsider at 14.5. She has these four to beat:
1️⃣ Wonderful Tonight Behind Dame Malliot and Laburnum in the Vermeille, but has not been beaten on heavy ground since her debut, improving dramatically to take her first Group 1 in the Royallieu at the Arc meeting in only the seventh race of her career.
2️⃣ Dame Malliot I’d styled my Fortune Cookie’s list for the Vermeille winner, Tarnawa, to win this but the third filly home in Paris is left with the baton. The imposing half-sister to Banksea won a Group 2 for Hollie Doyle, the Princess Of Wales’s Stakes, at the July Meeting.
3️⃣ Thundering Nights Pista, runner-up to Wonderful Tonight in Paris, is replaced for this by stablemate Thundering Nights, who has raced as if needing this stamina test, as suggested by her pedigree.
4️⃣ Even So Collateral form leaves Even So with plenty to do. Fifth in the Vermeille and winner of the Naas Oaks over Laburnum at a shorter trip. Won the Irish Oaks easily but the runner-up had earlier been no match for Tarnawa, despite 10lb age allowance, at Cork.

In a race the favourite has won six times in nine years, it looks like another clash between Frankie Dettori (Palace Pier) and Pierre-Charles Boudot (The Revenant).
1️⃣ Palace Pier Unbeaten in five starts, making a two-stone leap in the ratings from his reappearance as a handicapper in June to a remarkable double of St James’s Palace Stakes and Prix Jacques le Marois (heavy).
In the Deauville race he beat Alpine Star (beaten short-neck by Tarnawa in the Opera) and Circus Maximus (by almost six lengths).
2️⃣ The Revenant Runner-up in the race last year and six wins out of nine overall. Following the same pattern as last season, winner at the Arc meeting (Prix Daniel Wildenstein double) then coming on to this. Five wins were for Boudot, four on very soft or heavy.
3️⃣ Nazeef Six out of six over a mile, including Group-1 pair, Falmouth and Sun Chariot, both on the Rowley Mile, both on soft or heavy, beating into second a 1,000 Guineas winner in one and a 1,000 Guineas runner-up in the other.
4️⃣ Century Dream Beaten close home by Roaring Lion in this race two years ago and won Celebration Mile at Goodwood (soft) in August.
Veracious, fourth in 2019 but not in the same form this season, and fourth is the best you can hope for again.

3️⃣ Addeybb Beaten threeparts of a length by Magical in a battle for last year’s Champion Stakes on the soft. Six now and second to Lord North at Royal Ascot but dangerous at his best.
4️⃣ Skalletti Heavy-ground double in France, including defeat of subsequent Arc winner Sotsass (prep race) at Deauville in August. Late improver, ridden by Pierre-Charles Boudot.
Lord North Cambridgeshire winner and second in the Balmoral Handicap on today’s card last year, climbed into top bracket with Brigadier Gerard and Prince Of Wales’s double, so that officially top-rated here off 123, but giving weight to the top two.
Serpentine (won Epsom Derby of non-stayers) and Japan switched to this after missing the Arc because of contaminated-feedstuffs inquiry.
Pyledriver Drops back in trip, after winning the ‘Ascot Derby’ King Edward V11 Stakes and Great Voltigeur. Not to be underestimated.

Raising Sand Fifteen races at Ascot. Third Royal Hunt Cup and winner of the International last summer for Nicola Currie. Saffie Osborne claim puts him well in. Nicola Currie switches to Graignes, fourth in the 2019 French 2,000 Guineas (wind surgery after move to George Baker)
Solid Stone ‘He’ is 2-4 since gelded and strong wins over further. Well drawn and Hollie Doyle booked. Ground a worry.
Tempus Back-to-back wins at Ascot and Newbury, drops back to a mile after good effort, sixth, in the Cambridgeshire.
