BIG BASH: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s Big Bash game between between Hobart Hurricanes v Adelaide Strikers with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The Big Bash moves to Aurora Stadium, Launceston on Tuesday for the first game there this season! This is essentially an “out ground” in Tasmania – you might know it better as the “University Of Tasmania Stadium.” It’s nice that the Big Bash play some games in the smaller cities so more of the country gets to have local top quality cricket, but unfortunately that mean less ground data for us traders.
The fixture list has thrown up an odd one here as these two played each other on Sunday. We live in different times with Covid 19, but Adelaide Strikers played their “home” game at Hobart and now Hobart play their “home” game in Tasmania! Hobart won by 11 runs on Sunday after setting a good score of 174/5. D’Arcy Short was excellent, hitting 72 runs off 48 and it’s fair to say that was a match winning knock. Nobody really got going for the Strikers until Daniel Worrall hit 62 off 39 towards the death but they simply need to do better at the top of the order.
The Strikers bowling would have to be a major worry coming into this game too. Hobart looked comfortable on Sunday, and they’ve won their opening two games now so will be full of confidence. We should have a pretty high scoring game given the ground and that will suit Hobart more I feel.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
It’s hard to know what to fully expect at this ground without much data to go off. We have two games here, one today and one tomorrow so we should have a better idea of conditions for Perth Scorchers v Melbourne Stars tomorrow. For today, the clear tactic is to assess conditions in the opening three overs before getting involved. I’d expect a reasonably high scoring game having seen the ground last season. We should get plenty of sixes. Last season we had this exact fixture and Adelaide Strikers scores 186/5 and won by ten runs with Hobart Hurricanes finishing on 176/6. I would expect reasonably similar scores.
RECOMMENDED BET:
It’s hard to look past Hobart here at 1.85. They just beat the Strikers on Sunday in a very good display. It would have been a massive win only for Worrall hitting 62 off 29 down the order. The top order of Strikers looks very weak and with Hobart in good form with the bat they will enjoy the conditions here. They have started the tournament well and look full of confidence too. Of course they can improve their bowling, but their batting is winning games at the moment.
The Edge Says:
Two points win Hobart Hurricanes to beat Adelaide Strikers at 1.85 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
With this ground being little known, we can certainly see some odd market movements on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as traders panic in-running. I noted above that we should see plenty of sixes, so don’t be concerned to see the ball flying everywhere. Of course, that was last year and we could have very different conditions today so it’s worth taking the opening overs to see how the pitch is playing.
The Hurricanes went very well against the top order of the Strikers on Sunday, and I would like to be on the Hurricanes in that situation again. The Hurricanes batting has been in excellent form too, and with the Striker bowling looking a little light this season apart from Rashid Khan I feel we’ll see the Hurricanes go very well with the bat again. That could be a very good trading angle if they bat first.
