JONATHAN HOBBS: RPGTV is back in the room tonight for greyhound fans with the final batch of open races of 2020.

Three decent finals take place at Central Park, with Swindon playing a supporting role, fresh from staging the Property192 Oaks last week.

However, the Central Park card takes centre-stage with the action topped off by the British Bred St Leger Final where Emotional (7.36) could be ready to end the year for Angie Kibble on an even bigger high – seven days after the kennel won the Oaks!

This home-bred daughter of a Ladbrokes Golden Jacket champion in the Kibble-trained Wiki Wiki Woo has the early pace and the necessary stamina to grab gold in the £3,000 final over 642m, providing it doesn’t turn into a messy affair.

But while Emotional will be a warm order in the BGBF St Leger decider, there could be value to side against the favourites in both the Kent County Hurdle Final and Sunday Night Standard Final.

Let’s take a look at the main Central Park action.

Central Park

6.58: The first of the night’s finals is a competitive affair. Goldies Ginola looks to have a decent draw against the fence as the sole raider, with favourite Magical Arrow next door set to move off. That gives the local hope every chance to shine, although the blue-box did post the fastest time in the heats last week. Acomb Jenny showed good pace up last week and could hold Magical Arrow in. However, next door General James is an intriguing proposition. June Harvey’s dog has not had too much racing of late, so could be open to improvement and paced up really well after a missed break last week. A ping-start from the black-box could put the pace to the race – after which it’s game-on!

Play: General James

7.36: Now to the BGBF St Leger final and Emotional was such a clear-cut winner of her heat last week that Angie Kibble’s dog is tough to look beyond, although given how last week’s heats unfolded there might still be plenty ready to lay the favourite. Shoot The Bolt can certainly trap better on the outside and might set the tempo, while Manassas’s antics in last week’s heats were certainly interesting. He definitely looked at Zaha and Acomb Winston as he came to pass and win his heat last week but, to be fair, his rivals were going nowhere. Nevertheless the Romford raider has trialled in midweek on home soil which might act concentrate the mind. However catching Emotional will be tougher.

Play: Emotional

8.17: Ricky Holloway will be delighted the last open race of 2020 is a jumps contest and the Kent County Hurdle looks a really good affair. Holloway sends out the Grand National first and second in Roxholme Biscuit and Nomansland Flyer and both won their heats in good style – with little between them timewise. A fast start for either gives them the edge potentially, but might the novice Droopys Rex be overpriced here? The David Mullins-trained runner showed good pace behind Nomansland Flyer in the heats – on his hurdles debut – and could trouble the principals if pinging to lead. He’s a recent 24.17sec Romford winner on the level so has plenty of speed, albeit lacks experience at the top level.

Play: Droopys Rex

Good luck all and a Happy New Year!
