BIG BASH: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s Big Bash game between Hobart Hurricanes v Brisbane Heat with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s déjà vu in the Big Bash again on Wednesday morning as Hobart Hurricanes face Brisbane Heat at The Gabba. We had this exact fixture here on the 27th for Heat’s home game, but as we have a very different 2020 with Covid19 restrictions we don’t have the usual fixture list with traditional home and away games.

Brisbane Heat have been very poor this season, but they managed to beat Hobart Hurricanes! That would have been a very disappointing result for the Hurricanes who batted poorly to only manage 148/7. The Heat got into a little trouble chasing it but managed to get over the line in the end with plenty of balls to spare. The scores have been coming down at The Gabba for the last two years, but the 148/7 was well short of par and surely we’ll see a bigger first innings score today.

This is a big game for the Heat who have got themselves into the “detached” bottom three. There’s five points between themselves and Melbourne Stars and then another six points to the leaders Sydney Sixers. The Hurricanes topped the table for a while after a good start, but they’ve fallen a bit back now and with Heat having a game in hand they might be able to bridge the gap. The reality is their bowling looks very weak and their batting isn’t reliable either. It will be interesting to see can the Hurricanes beat them this time around.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I said above, the surface at The Gabba isn’t the road it once was. However, the 148/7 by the Hurricanes was well short of the mark the other day. Heat had a total collapse of the middle order and still managed to chase it down in 17.2 overs. Given Heat made hard work of it and it’s early in the season I’d suggest you’d want 180+ here batting first – that of course is between two good teams. The Hurricanes are solid, but they aren’t a very strong side and the Heat are a reasonably poor unit. For that reason scores might reduce but the Hurricanes have the talent to go big.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I had a small bet on the Hurricanes a couple days ago and although that was a loser, I feel it’s worth having a small bet on them again today at 1.7. Heat are a very poor side, and even when beating the Hurricanes they managed to go from 76/2 to 102/6. Their middle order is very weak and their bowling is weak too apart from Mujeeb. The Hurricanes have the talent and Malan can only make them stronger – he didn’t really get going but given the Heat bowling he can take advantage if he gets himself in today.

The Edge Says:
One point win Hobart Hurricanes to beat Brisbane Heat at 1.7 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Despite Heat being a poor side on paper, their games have been excellent for trading on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Perhaps because of the lack of quality they can throw good positions away, meaning we see some big swings in the in-running prices. They lost from 1.1 already this season against Sydney Thunder and going from 76/2 to 102/6 is obviously going to cause market carnage too.

The Hurricanes batted very poorly here the other day, but I would still be reasonably keen to get on the team batting first. It looks like that would be the best option conditions wise; however neither side fill me with confident when batting and I wouldn’t go heavy on either. I feel the Heat bowling is much weaker, and there can be a lot of opportunities to get against them when bowling and also I’d be very keen to be against their middle order when batting too.
