FIVE WINNING NAPS OUT OF SIX IN HAIR-RAISING FINISH: Castlebar (WON 4-6 from 4-5 on BETDAQ) so dominated the Ladbrokes-sponsored handicap at Wolverhampton last night that he gave the race away in the straight but came back down the wide outside and got up in the last half furlong. It was Daqman’s fifth winning nap from the last six.
✔️ WON 13-8 IBLEO Saturday
✔️ WON 5-4 CRYSTAL SPIRIT Sunday
✔️ WON 9-4 ROYAL BIRTH Monday
✔️ WON 6-5 LADYWOOD Tuesday
✔️ WON 4-6 CASTLEBAR Thursday
7.0 THE FIELD WITHOUT THE IRISH IN THE CHAMPION CHASE: Cheltenham will be the loser if the Irish contingent can’t travel over but a bet on the home team, without the Irish hot-pots, could be a value bet in the weeks before the race. Here’s how the Champion Chase odds stack up on BETDAQ, leading English contenders only.
WHERE IS THE CHAMPION VALUE?
⭕ 3.30 Cheltenham, March 17 (Queen Mother Champion Chase) The chances are not good of any Irish runners beating the lockdowns, so one possible set of values at Cheltenham are the English runners in each big race.
The Champion Chase in ratings order with trainer and BETDAQ betting is as follows (betting without Chacun Pour Soi, Min, Notebook, Put The Kettle On, Samcro, Fakir D’Oudairies, Le Richebourg, and seven other Irish probables):
169 ALTIOR (Nicky Henderson) 11.0 BETDAQ
The 21-times winner, including the 2018 and 2019 Champion Chase, has been beaten at Ascot and Kempton (by Nube Negra in the King George) in his last three starts.
169 POLITOLOGUE (Paul Nicholls) 7.0 BETDAQ (bookmakers 5-1)
Beaten twice in the championship by Altior; won the race in March in his absence, and stormed clear in the Tingle Creek last month.
168 DEFI DU SEUIL (Philip Hobbs) 15.0 BETDAQ
Triumph Hurdle and JLT winner at Cheltenham, but only fourth for the title behind Politologue in March.
167 WAITING PATIENTLY (Ruth Jefferson) 34.0 BETDAQ (bookmakers 12-1)
Won six out of seven chases 2016-17 but a nearly horse in the last two years (form 2332).
165 NUBE NEGRA (Dan Skelton) 11.0 BETDAQ
Improved 18lb last season, but pushed up 13lb in one go when springing a surprise at Kempton over Christmas, beating Altior in the Ladbrokes Desert Orchid Chase.
163 ROUGE VIF (Paul Nicholls) 21.0 BETDAQ
Arkle third last season who won at Cheltenham in October but was well behind in the Tingle Creek and the Desert Orchid Chase.
161 GREANETEEN (Paul Nicholls) 41.0 BETDAQ (bookmakers 12-1)
Fourth in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham in March; won the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter in November and second in the Tingle Creek.
SAM BACK WITH OLD-FLAME MOLLY
⭕ 1.20 Lingfield Molliana has improved her rating over hurdles, since scoring at Chepstow in October, despite the soft ground being against her.
One way to avoid bad ground is to take in this bumper on Polytrack at Lingfield, bringing back to the saddle Sam Twiston-Davies, who won 2-2 on her during the mare’s six wins in a row, still standing, in a summer spree at Les Landes in 2019.
Molliana (BETDAQ 4.9) gets 7lb from the Dan Skelton cast-off Ferrobin, who won a selling hurdle at Market Rasen last month.
Deer Hunter has been playing Russian roulette with the trip: 2m, then 2m 5f, and finally 3m. He’s fired blanks each time and has now left Harry Whittington.
⭕ 5.15 Southwell As a Chester winner, Gabrial The Devil should be suited by railing ante-clockwise around Southwell and can finally get off the mark on AW.
Gabrial is trained by Richard Fahey, whose last two Southwell runners have both won, Crownthorpe and Star Of St James (yesterday), yet he was 9.4 this morning in the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
McCAIN IS ON A WINNING STREAK
⭕ 5.45 Southwell Donald McCain was five out of six still standing in the first three days of the year.
He has half a dozen runners at Newcastle today but just the one – Artistic Streak – at Southwell this evening. BETDAQ 2.73 taken.
Artistic Streak is only 4lb higher than when Elia McCain scored first time on the mare over today’s CD at Southwell in October.
Cheap Jack is so far a 10-12f horse; Restive has been out of form 14 months and has just turned eight; Shine Baby Shine is 0-6 on AW; Irish Minister is 0-17.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
