BIG SIX ANALYSIS: Although Manchester United have recently surpassed them at the top of the Premier League, Liverpool still sit at the head of affairs in the league’s ‘big six’ table.
Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t been at their best in recent weeks and are without a win in three – a run that has seen United overtake them at the Premier League summit.
But ahead of their contest with the Red Devils on Sunday, Liverpool will look to their impressive recent record against the other members of the league’s big six which has been a large reason for their recent domestic dominance.
In the last 50 league matches played against the big six, Liverpool have won 24, drawn 18 and lost just eight, meaning they have accrued 90 points in that period. They have lost just three of their games against United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal since the start of 2019 and their 90-point haul is six more than that of their nearest pursuers City.
The Merseysiders are unbeaten in their four top-flight games against Sunday’s opponents and it’s perhaps unsurprising that over the aforementioned period of 50 league matches, Liverpool have notched up 24 more points than the Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men.
BETDAQ head of marketing, Mark Harkin said: “Much of where the Premier League title heads to at the end of the season is dictated by how a team fares against top opposition and Liverpool’s recent record against these sides is evidence of that.
“Over the last 50 league matches played against Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal, the Reds have lost just eight times, chalking up 90 points in the process. That’s six more than Manchester City’s haul of 84 and a full 24 more than United – Liverpool’s opponents at Anfield on Sunday.”
