CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PREVIEW: Our European football tipster The Ultra previews Tuesday’s Champions League games between BARCELONA v PSG and RB LEIPZIG v LIVERPOOL both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
BARCELONA V PSG
8pm The Champions League returns! We are back with a bang in the Last 16 with a wonderful night of action. My only complaint is having the two games on at the same time – I don’t see the logic – why not have one game at 5.55pm and the other at 8pm! Especially when the fixtures are as high quality as the two we have tonight – both are fascinating markets on BETDAQ Betting Exchange too. Anyway, we start with Barcelona hosting PSG. Many football fans will have some incredible memories of this tie in the Last 16 in 2017 – PSG won 4-0 in Paris only for Barcelona to win 6-1 here! If we get half as much drama as that tie, then we’re in for a treat! Unfortunately PSG will be without their star man Neymar so that takes away a little spice from the fixture.
PSG are also likely to be without Di Maria too, but as we know Barcelona haven’t been at their best this season so the game is perfectly set up. Although Barcelona are well off the pace after a slow start in La Liga, looking at the xG figures they are bang in form. They have been creating some very impressive xG figures in recent weeks and we were able to land a nice 4.0 shot on them to score four or more goals the weekend. They have been creating chances for fun, and it’s only a matter of time before we see big goals – you can say that it’s already come with ten goals in their last three La Liga games. PSG are having an under-par season; they don’t even lead the French League – usually they have it won by now! They have a big new manager who should be very successful, but this is the ideal time to back Barcelona in my opinion. They are in excellent form and can take advantage of a PSG side without Neymar.

RB LEIPZIG V LIVERPOOL
8pm We had some minor drama in the lead up to this fixture as the German government wouldn’t allow Liverpool into the country with Covid19 restrictions but the issue was quickly resolved and we relocate to the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Given all games are behind closed doors these days I’m not sure how much of a difference it makes – however obviously it’s not ideal for RB Leipzig to not have a traditional home fixture. I don’t think they’ll mind much as it seems an ideal time to meet Liverpool given their recent form. We even had rumours of Klopp leaving or getting sacked this week – that would be incredible but that’s football these days. I feel Liverpool have eased off their intensity after winning the Premier League and that’s been reflected in their play – they have also become a target for the other teams; everyone wants to beat the Champions and ups their level.
Of course, those Klopp rumours only come because the team is playing so poorly. If they were played well, we wouldn’t hear that “he needs a break.” RB Leipzig suffered a dip in form a couple of weeks ago when challenging Bayern Munich at the top of the table, but they have recovered to be five points clear in second and they have definitely looked the second best team in the Bundesliga. Liverpool have leaked too many goals recently and that has been their major issue – Leipzig are generally very good going forward and I’m happy to lay Liverpool here at 2.44. That looks very short given how they have played lately and the fact Leipzig come into the game in good form. I take on board it’s not ideal moving stadium for Leipzig, but I still feel the 2.44 is too short on Liverpool.
