⭕ 1.30 Lingfield I shall be interested to see whether the in-form Keith Dalgleish sends Gioia Cieca down to Lingfield tomorrow for the Ladbrokes Spring Cup, after his impressive Newcastle win of a month ago.
Karl Burke (currently 2-3) thinks the form worth the journey from Yorkshire with the runner-up, Lead Story, getting weight from the principals in her first handicap in this one at Lingfield today. BETDAQ 3.75.
Merry Secret goes for a hat-trick but has won his races a grade lower by the skin of his teeth, and Muay Thai exposed his lack of stamina when raised to a mile the last day.
⭕ 2.50 Doncaster I’m looking forward to another potential traveller, Sam Thomas, who has been striking at 50% in the last fortnight (3-6).
He has switched overnight favourite Dobryn from this to take in either Huntingdon or Sedgefield on Sunday. That appears to leave today’s race to Team Skelton.
They got a 12-lengths jumpers-bumper win out of the consistent low-level Flat scorer Gylo, after taking him over from David O’Meara.
He could be capable of giving 10lb to Nicky Henderson cast-off Timberman, who has continued with his bridesmaid form under Fergal O’Brien. Even money Gylo this morning.
GROUND IS A GIFT FOR PRESENT
⭕ 3.35 Newbury Present Chief landed back-to-back wins on a sound surface in the summer, then was just run out of second place in a Pertemps qualifier here in November. I took 9.8 on the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
Another consistent sort, the grey mare Outonpatrol, is up in class and trip for the in-form Alan King outfit.
It was for sure Howling Milan would be back here after his two-lengths second of 16 on the course less than two weeks back. Rating unchanged.
Roque It, whose family did well stepped up to 3m, is a second foal, brother to a low-level winner. So interesting without being an obvious choice.
⭕ 4.00 Doncaster Uptown Lady is on 128 as a 14-lengths winner at Warwick when Fantastic Lady was a length up when falling at the last.
Yet Nicky Henderson’s Fantastic Lady is in this getting a stone from the 127-rated Aggy With It, and the same off Bit On The Side, who is on 118. Both suffer from double penalties under the conditions of the race.
Henderson has a fantastic record at Doncaster with near on a 30% strike rate from 100 winners. He also runs Docte Dina, so we have to spare a single-point saver, which still leaves us slightly better than evens Fantastic Lady.
